The Lyrics

Don't know if you've heard, but the FTC recently fined YouTube $170 million for not abiding by COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)—and that invariably puts content creators in the crosshairs. This situation has gotten out of hand, and worse yet, besmirches everything in the First Amendment. I can't imagine the world without 5-Minute Crafts, Let's Plays, family videos, unboxings and even Baby Shark!
’Twas a moonlight sheen on November 14—with a MacBook filmin’ crafts,
Lenovo ThinkPad with PewDiePie on, and a Chromebook reviewin’ drafts.
We were headin’ for Feds on i-O-S ‘bout a mile outta Firefox town—
I says, “Toybox, this here’s the Baby Shark and I’m about to throw the hammer down."
‘Cause we’ve got some mighty content loadin’ through the night.
Yeah, we’ve got some mighty content—ain’t it a beautiful sight?
Come on and add to our content; ain’t nothin’ gonna get in our way.
We gotta save this YouTube content ‘cross the U-S-A.
Content!

By the time we got into Broadband Town, we had 85 vids in all.
But there’s a roadblock up on the wi-fi router, and those Feds were wall-to-wall.
Yeah, those agents were thick as bits on a buffer; they even had a Fed in the air!
I says, "Callin' all Tubers, this here's the Shark—we’re about to give them a scare.”
‘Cause we got some mighty content loadin’ through the night.
Yeah, we got some mighty content—ain’t it a beautiful sight?
Come on and add to our content; ain’t nothin’ gonna get in our way.
We gotta save this YouTube content ‘cross the U-S-A.
Content!

Well, we rolled up the road down Xfinity Way like an old LP’er on crack—
We tore up all of our e-receipts, and left 'em setting on the rack.
By the time we hit old New York town, those Feds were becomin’ hip:
They'd brought up some reinforcements from the NYPD fellowship.
There's squad cars, bikes, and K-9 trucks and cages of every size.
Yeah, those skyscrapers were full of Feds and choppers filled the skies.
Well, we shot the line and we went for broke, with a billion streamin' vids,
And a fleet of pastel minivans with eleven billion families with kids.

Well, we laid a strip for 1 Bowling Green and prepared to cross the line—
I could see the place was lined with Feds, but I didn't have a goddamn dime.
I says, “Toybox, this here's the Baby Shark—we just ain't gonna pay no fine.”
So we crashed the front doors doing 94; I says, "Let them creators shine, oh yeah.”
'Cause we got some mighty content loadin' through the night.
Yeah, we got some mighty content—ain't it a beautiful sight?
Come on and add to our content; ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gotta save this YouTube content ‘cross the U-S-A.
Content!
"The power and freedom of the press is a flaming sword; that it may be a faithful servant to us all—use it justly, hold it high, guard it well." -Steve Wilson (Edward Pawley), from the old radio drama "Big Town" And that goes for YouTube, too. For the sake of all content creators and content creator viewers, let's show the FTC they shouldn't screw about with our FA rights... while there's still time.

Nice Job. It might help if you lined the petition on one of the comments. I was actually thinking of writing a B-side to this subject matter. I was looking at the direction of AC/DC's TNT, or Culture Club's Karma Chameleon. I'll leave that for someone else to post b/c I think there will be a lot to say about COPPA and FTC in the weeks to come.

Here's the petition you asked for, Arch. I've done my part. Spread the word! https://www.change.org/p/youtubers-and-viewers-unite-against-ftc-regulation
