The Lyrics

In the office where I work, we have "The Royal 4530", a high tech copier that can perform a variety of functions. Unfortunately, it also has a tendency to jam. A couple of tech support guys actually told us that we were causing the problem because of the way we store the paper, and that the paper had become "cold and wavy," thus interrupting the flow of the machine. The other day, after a long "jam session," my assistant Greg (the one who usually does the copying) covered the label on the copier with "The Marley 4530 - It's Jammin'".
All wrong!
It's jammin'
It won't make copies at all
It's jammin', jammin'
Paper's squished in a little ball

That machine, evil spawn, I've been up 'til frickin' dawn
Copier won't do its job
Tried every tray but it won't flow, every format that I know
Then I see the angry mob

More jammin'
And now the paper's got accordian pleats
It's jammin'
And the toner spilled onto my feet

Support techs replaced all parts, but it still runs in fits and starts
I ask, "Replace it now, please!"
They're out three times a week, many answers I do seek
But I'm still on my hands and knees

It's jammin' (jammin', jammin', jammin')
It's still jammin' in the office now
Still jammin' (jammin', jammin' jammin')
Tried fixin' but don't know how

It has many features:
Stapling, double side,
Memory, job interrupt --
I just want copies!

Ooooh! I hate jammin' (hate it so)
Hate it so, so much, that jammin' (make it go!)
Wish it wouldn't jam anymore
It's (jammin', jammin', jammin')
Still jammed! My hands and knees are sore!

Saying our paper's cold and wavy just won't do
It's just a dumb excuse!
True lemons do exist and I really must insist
Let's call a truce!

It's jammin' (jammin', jammin', jammin'), oh-oh-oh!
Don't be a lazy buffoon!
Stop jammin'! Stop jammin'! Stop jammin'! Stop jammin'!
Stop jammin'! Stop jammin'! Stop jammin'! Stop jammin'!
Or I'll do some crammin' soon!

You HAVE to look at the ads to the right of this. Haw Haw. Also Click the link at the bottom to hear our AMIRIGHT Tribute.

:c) It's a great parody, and the ad's just take it to whole new level. Even the website likes this song. Servers and printers must not like each other. You've seen the movie "Office Space" right?

As a copier tech I gotta tell ya, bad paper causes a LOT of problems. Trust your techs, store your paper FLAT in a dry, mild temperature area and if you have a very bad environment you might want to get some rubbermaid containers to keep it safe. (And use the old stuff you have right now in some other function - it's already shot.) You can look at my parody "The Copier Guy" to get a feel for how WE view those customers who think they know the machine better than we do - lol! But your parody is great, and I have to tell you I sing that song every time I walk into a machine with a paper jam problem - so I should have parodied it a long time ago! You beat me (and probably a lot of other folks) to the punch, and did it well! Great job!

There are only two things that are universal to every workplace. Incompetent HR managers, and copiers that jam more than they run. Great job Mari ;-)

Mari D - Wish I knew the original, great parody lyrics. Stray pooch is right about the paper, I just about ruined my HP LJ3 with old paper that had picked up a minor amount of moisture just sitting around. Rick D - glad you pointed out those ads, never would have noticed them. I'll have to start seeing if there's any connection between song & ads from now on. OH, Mari - I see you are on the cusp of "25" submissions on this site, pre-congratulations in case I'm snoozin' when you reach the mark. It looks like I'll have to cajole Larry into staying a few minutes late so I can listen to your Amiright tribute songs on his PC. From the buzz it sounds like it will be worth the time.

I've really enjoyed reading the comments on this one! Thanks! / Stray Pooch & Paul -- I know that we don't know as much as the techs, but we WERE being careful. And some techs are better than others (we've met several of both kinds). Our office is on a copier program here where they swap machines between offices. The first one was here eight months and it worked perfectly -- then they took it away and replaced it with the machine from hell! / 2nz -- loved "Office Space"! / Paul -- there IS a definite connection between the ads and the parodies; Leah's "Average Pigeon" ("Unknown Legend") parody is next to ads for pigeon removal and control.

Mari D - was suspecting there might be a tie-in. Pretty clever marketing I'd have to say, although wasted on me (unlike the 60's when it was most certainly the other way around). Going to check on the sales droppings left next to Leah's "Average Pigeon" now.

Great job! I hate office machines! I have a fickle fax and a quirky printer.
