Parody Song Title:

"Clyde, Sorry, Clyde (Blues For Planet Pluto)"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

In memoriam, Clyde William Tombaugh (1906-1997), and the planet he discovered, Pluto (1930-2006). Who elected THESE guys to say what's a planet and what isn't, anyway? Not me. And who was counting the votes, Jeb Bush?
(instrumental opening)

Seventy-six years it was
as a planet classified.
Now after all this time those guys say,
"Sorry, folks, we lied!"

"We're calling Pluto and those other things
a 'planet that's a dwarf.'
You can toss those solar-system models
off Fisherman's Wharf!"

Nobody understood them.
No one agreed at all.
They still go along with Mr.
Clyde Tombaugh's call!

I still accept what Clyde said
way back in nineteen-thirty.
I don't accept it as a mistake
of astronomy!

Clyde, sorry, Clyde
about your mystery blip.
Be amazed at these guys
who gave you such a gyp!

Clyde, sorry, Clyde
about your mystery blip.
Don't seem fair to a world
all others 'til you missed!

(instrumental break)

Seventy-six years it was
as a planet classified.
Now after all this time those guys say,
"Sorry, folks, we lied!"

"We're calling Pluto, Charon, Xena
and Ceres planet-dwarves!"
We can throw our lunches away
'cause they make us barf!

Clyde, sorry, Clyde
about your mystery blip.
Be amazed at these guys
who gave you such a gyp!

Clyde, sorry, Clyde
about your mystery blip.
Don't seem fair to a world
all others 'til you missed!

Clyde, sorry, Clyde
about your mystery blip.
Be amazed at these guys
who gave you such a gyp!

(guitar close)
And if that doesn't work, I'll sic Lucy (Xena) Lawless on 'em! Oy-yi-yi-yi-yi... yahhhh! Anyway, in case you were wondering... Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, visible from the naked eye, have all been known since classical times. The German-turned-Englishman William Herschel (1738-1822) discovered Uranus in 1781. And the Frenchman Urbain Le Verrier (1811-1877) discovered Neptune in 1846.

I wonder what Clyde would think if he were alive today. Modern technology makes things so much clearer.
