The Lyrics

OS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdMi_TW65Ho
Fall is time for fun
Weird-dressed crowds of chums
The children all cheer the treaters
So do the kids, the young and the babes
Eager wee tykes they are

Come on, JD's (Don't jeer the treaters)
JD's playin' pranks (Don't jeer the treaters)
Chillers makin' us cry (Don't jeer the treaters)
JD crimes so rank

Na na na na na
Na na na na na

[Short Instrumental]

Halloween's no fun
Fearful town succumbs
Roaming trolls, unruly pests
Rob the beggars of their mirth and glee (Toadish croaks and ghoulishness)

Warty scoundrels scummin' windows, getting crazed (Tykes going home, unduly stressed)
Warty mounds of dung enkindled, set ablaze (Peevish, snide nastiness)
A gutter's gored, a spout is sprung, a shed is razed (Demons key my gray car)

Come on, JD's (Don't jeer the treaters)
JD's flay my yams (Don't jeer the treaters)
Spilling waste on the drive (Don't jeer the treaters)
JD's slime our van

Na na na na na
Na na na na na

[Long Instrumental]

Thugs are crude and dumb
Cheerless town is stunned
Shameful acts stifle gladness
A fit of tears, we're shook and benumbed
The doors are broken, but we have this gear
The cam'ras view at the mischief drear
The urchins screwed, cuz their deeds are clear (Saving--won't get away)

Come on, JD's (Crazy cads must fear)
Cuz we have the pics (The tweets starting to fly)
Nitwits captured, identified (We nab the scum-like bray-tards)
See them takin' the stand (We send the bums to Gray-Bar)

Come on, JD's (So fear the treaters)

Oops...Top Comments should have included note that JD's (pronounced 'Jay-deez') refers to Juvenile Delinquents

This is a treat. The date slipped my feeble mind.

Halloween has become the longest holiday of the year, with autumn themed items, goblins and witches, and special candy all appearing in stores around the third week of August. Haunted houses open on Labor Day weekend. On the other hand, the actual evening seems to be an anticlimax. So many people have been scared by reports of tainted candy that the custom of door to door trick or treating has all but disappeared, at least in my neighborhood. I don't think I have had a single child come to my place in over 15 years. A friend, who rents costumes, mostly to adults for parties, does great business seven days a week for the whole month.

Looks like you upset some mischievous "treaters" judging by the votes. Great word matching. Didn’t know what you meant with Gray-Bar until I looked it up.

A little more cowbell for your trick or treat bag Leough

Not the easiest song to parody because of the echoing lyrics, but you did a nice job in keeping it in the spirit of the season. I liked this a lot. Good job, Leough.

Andy already made the observation I was going to, Leough, so i will just say a fun read to a great OS. Halloween has never taken off here in Aus. Dunno why.

Thanks everybody!

Patrick and Peregrin: The practice of trick or treating seems to have subsided where I live, too.

Andy: Just when I think I've got the US vs UK slang thing figured out, I get proven wrong again. I just did a search on Gray-Bar (Hotel) and found it was listed as US slang.
Andy Primus - October 17, 2014 - Report this comment
Yeah, it was obvious to me by the context that it's somewhere crims are sent but I first thought it was going to be slang for a particular prison. A Google search only showed a load of businesses. My first port of call for slang is Urban Dictionary and, luckily, that ref comes up as you type it in.
