The Lyrics

Parodying this song is not easy. Whether a caveman can do it remains to be seen.
(instrumental opening)

It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
but I think I should have stayed in.
There's an old man in the parking lot
who scratched my car with his tailfin.

He says, "Son, it's my fault, and I'm so sorry.
I guess that's the way that it goes.
It's so sad that my feet hit gas pedal complete
but I'm insured from head to toes."

La, da-da, da-de-da
la-da, da-de-da, da-dum...

Pick up the phone, call the Geico man.
Get you a quote tonight.
Well, we're all in the mood to go save money
on insurance for cars that's all right.

Now, John at the bar is a friend of mine.
He gets me my drinks for free.
But he comes from a cave, and he will rant and rave
at commercials he sees on TV.

He says, "Mike, I believe this is killing me,"
as the smile runs away from his face.
"Well, we cavemen invented technology.
Those commercials feel like a disgrace."

Oh, la, da-da, da-de-da
la-da, da-de-da, da-dum...

Now, Paul is a real-estate novelist
who shouldn't lend keys to his wife.
And he's talking with Davey, who wrecked his old Chevy
and it nearly cost him his life.

And the waitress is glad that her car's been fixed
as the businessmen slowly get smashed.
Yes, they're sharing some drinks because they take cabs
ever since their BMW crashed.

(instrumental break)

Pick up the phone, call the Geico man.
Get you a quote tonight.
Well, we're all in the mood to go save money
on insurance for cars that's all right.

It's a pretty good spot for a Saturday
and I park my fixed car with a smile.
And I'm here and I think I need only one drink
to forget about life for a while.

And the Gecko sounds like an Australian
and too many guys drive after beer
and they sit at the bar and endanger their cars.
I say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"

Oh, la, da-da, da-de-da
la-da, da-de-da, they're so dumb...

Pick up the phone, call the Geico man.
Get you a quote tonight.
Well, we're all in the mood to go save money
on insurance for cars that's all right.

(instrumental close)

Agree with Alvin. Billy was awfully full of himself wasn't he? Geico Man, now--I'm so-so on the hook, but you did a great job of developing your theme in the other verses.

Man, now I wish I'd read this sooner!!!! I wasn't too sure about it, but it turned out to be a fantastic parody! I especially liked your creative "Davey/Chevy" rhyme. And as always, lack of profanity is a plus. 555. As for me not looking at this gem sooner, I guess it's true what they say about "he who hesitates is lost."
