The Lyrics

Background info (some folks say it's required on this one) 'The King' is Elvis Presley, nanners are reference to 'fried peanut-butter-and-'nanner sandwiches' of which he is very famous for, this parody makes the assumption (along with 23% of the known world) that Elvis is still alive.
His five o'clock shadow is turning gray
But still can't mistake Bubba's grin
Now an old man needing to go pee
Must have drunk too much prune juice again

He says, man, can't you find me a lower key?
My highs bottom out near my lows
And the bus has no heat and I just wet my seat
So I will be changing my clothes

La la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Don't tell 'The King' there's a nanner stand
Passing us on the right
No, cause he'll want to stop for a pound or two
But we'll end up parked here all night

Now he was a star whose light sure did shine
His talent came naturally
But his taste for that fruit cause us so much dispute
It seems we're fighting him constantly

Ate his fill of bananas in '63
Took him three whole days stuffing his face
Got a catchy headline in the Tribune Star
'King's eaten King Kong to disgrace'

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

We've had to become kitchen strategists
We've had to hide all butter knives
There's no if's, and's, or maybe's he's still eating gravy
We probably just saved his life

And 'The King' he is practicing magic tricks
He is learning to hide nanner peels
Yeah, he's nearing the brink of no sandwiches
But he's sneaking more fruit between meals

Don't tell 'The King' there's a nanner stand
He'll want to take a bite
Yeah and this time it might come to tragedy
I'm tired of being polite

I remember a time when a maitre d'
Said his table manners were reviled
Then the waiter began acting suicidely
And believe me that's putting it mild

Then one ev'ning, I found a whole suitcase full
So I said, 'You old fool, listen here!
You can play your guitar and smoke stinky cigars
But this case, it had best disappear!'

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Don't tell 'The King' there's a nanner stand
Make us stop just for spite
Seems like you'd think that guy was just born hungry
We've got a terrible plight

Right up there with Warren Zevon's "Porcelain Monkey" and "Heavenly Mansions." And that's saying something.

(SOTM) This was interesting. I have to say, though, that without your reference in your written intro, I wouldn't have had a clue what this song was about--maybe about a guitar playing chimpanzee on the loose? Ah, bananas! :)

SOTM - You catched the feel of TOS very well but I'm at loss for the whole Elvis humour thingy here I'm afraid.

What Peter said... with the addition of "the known world" presumably being within ten miles of Nashville?

(SOTM) I apologize, I guess this one is a love it or not so much type parody. . .I thought it was well written and it all made perfect sense, I kinda figured it to be Elvis before I went back and read your intro, but it just didn't make me laugh. . .

(SOTM) No wonder he died young - I wonder how many weight Watcher points a fried peanut butter and nanner sandwich is. Flowed along well to the OS.

SOTM - I was surprised how well your lines match the OS. Thanks for the background info beforehand; I wouldn't have had a clue otherwise what a "nanner" is.
