The Lyrics

This song was done as an assignment for English class, on which our group got an 'A', largely due to the performance of this song. It is about Ray Bradbury's book, "Farenheit 451", so I would ask that you not vote for the song, unless you know the bases of the book, so it makes sense to you. Thanks!
It's nine o clock on a Saturday
The Montags are fine so it seems,
Guy's at his work, it gives him quite a smirk
To be burning all the books with glee.

Clarisse is Guy's teenage neighbor
She looks at the world with a smile,
Her family and she, see the world differently
And soon they will be in exile.

Ohhh burn di dee urn, little bookies,
Burn all the way down...to the ground. (BRIDGE)

Discover the truth, oh Guy Montag,
Discover the truth in the world,
It's quite a trip how you shun censorship,
With the flag of oppression unfurled. (CHORUS)

Guy's wife Mildred is corrupted
Watching her friends on TV,
They converse to and fro, and it's tragic ya know,
That society's her diety.

She says, "Guy, I believe this is killing me."
As a glazed look took over her face,
If only she'd seen, more than just the screen,
Then her life would be more than a waste.

Bridge

Chorus

Now Guy is a professional fireman
He burns books that aren't to be seen,
And Beatty's his boss, and it is a great loss,
That they scorch and remain so serene.

There's a mechanical hound that makes martyrs
Of men who try to rebel,
Society complies, and hardly a man tries,
For fears of being sent straight to hell.

Bridge

Chorus

You'll have to see just what happens
To our 'montag'onistic book burner,
Get in on the fun, of 'ole 451,
To find a fiery page turner.

Bridge

Chorus

I've never read the book, which probably keeps my view of the humor from being a 5, but this is better than Cliffs Notes. One of the better BJ parodies (and I've done about 30 myself, so I know, though most of mine are now too out of date to go on this site).

Hilarious, simply hilarious. Much better than the political PM parodies so many people (including me) are writing. Now write Eric Burdon's Spill The Wine and replace it with Dandelion Wine..

(ABC) Good parody!

If you don't mind, I'll gives ya 4-5-5 despite not reading the book. It's a decent read and the rhyme scheme and pacing were very good. My '4' is due to your use of (bridge) and (Chorus) in the way you submitted it. It would read a lot better if you just typed it out. At least, I think it worked well when I did a parody of 'American Pie' about 'The Godfather', the book, and 'Honor thy Father', another book. Oddly enough, that got's me an 'A' in the class I did it for too. It's quite a skill you develop when you come here, isn't it?

(ABC) Don't know that particular book, but I am familiar with some of Bradbury's other works, so I could get a feel for where it was going. 5's.

Didn't read the book, but saw the movie, and consider this to be an excellent parody. Very good, unforced rhymes, and I liked "montag-onistic."

It's more than twenty years since I read Farenheit 451 - can't say that this stirred any memories, I'm afraid, but it's a damn good parody.

I just read this book for the first time and was kinda burned by it so I looked around online for some reassurance and found your song. You did a good job transmuting a book into a song
