The Lyrics

John Barry saw a comment of mine and suggested I parody Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) of "Friends." Well, if Chris Bodily can rewrite songs as they might... be DONE... by William SHATNER!... I think I can do one AS it might be sung... BY Chandler Bing! Of course, Chris did change a few words, and so will I.
It's eight o'clock here ON a Thursday.
The regular crowd shuffles in.
There's an old man sitting NEXT to me
making love TO his tonic and gin.

He says, "Son, can you play me a melody?
I'm not really sure how IT goes.
But it's sad and it's sweet
and I knew IT complete
when I wore a younger man's clothes."

La, DA-da, da-DE-da...
Da-da, da-DE-da, da-dum...

Sing us a song, you're THE piano man.
Sing us a song tonight.
Well, we're all IN the mood for a melody
and you've got us feeling ALL right.

Now, Gunther, the bar guy's a friend OF mine.
He gets me lattes FOR free.
And I think it would seem
THAT he loves Rachel Greene
but Ross is the guy WITH whom she'll be.

He says, "Joey, I think this is killing me"
and the smile runs away FROM my face.
Don't you know that I'm Chandler, and HE'S Joey
after all the years we've come TO this place?

La, DA-da, da-DE-da...
Da-da, da-DE-da, da-dum...

Now, Ross is a paleontologist
who's about to divorce HIS fifth wife.
And he's talking with Phoebe
and sounding SO needy
hoping Rachel will come back for life.

And the waitress who replaced Rachel spills a cup
making Monica ever more uptight.
Yes, we're sharing a life AS an "odd couple"
but it beats being alone... TO-night!

(BJ's incredible piano break
accompanied by Phoebe's rudimentary guitar licks and
"La la la la-la, la-la...")

Sing us a song, you're THE piano man.
Sing us a song tonight.
Well, we're all IN the mood for a melody
and you've got us feeling ALL right.

It's a Central Perk crowd here ON a Thursday
and now Monica gives me a smile
'cause I know that it's me
when she says, "I'll 'do laundry'"
and I get me some wife for a while.

And the piano sounds like a carnival
and the microphone smells like a beer
and Joey HAS gone away
and he's starring with Drea
sayin', "Man, what am I doin' HERE?"

La, DA-da, da-DE-da...
Da-da, da-DE-da, da-dum...

Sing us a song, you're THE piano man.
Sing us a song tonight.
Well, we're all IN the mood for a melody
and you've got us feeling ALL right.

Yes, Joey once walked up to Gunther and said, "Have you seen Chandler?" And Gunther said, "I thought YOU were Chandler."

Could this parody BE any funnier? Three cheers for "Chanandler Bong" and Monica - the couple that gave us TV's first Golden Shower - LOL! Cute idea for a parody. 555

anyone who's ever seen Friends knows how brilliant this is - very dry, witty and hilarious, MP - loved it - I reckon the first recorded instance of ChandlerBing syndrome was Clark Gable's "I don't GIVE a damn" - which he admitted was the result of him being so fed up with doing take after take that he messed around with the emphasis on that take, which ended up being the one they used - and now it seems accepted as the normal way to use that expression

Here's how IT goes: A bunch of kids run afowl of an evil clown called Pennywise living in the sewers...... Sorry, I have to do that everytime someone capitalizes both letters in the word "it". :D
