The Lyrics

Got Tongue?
Went to Virginia, such a nice state,
Apostolic's there have lots of faith,
I'd sooner the latter than everyday saints,
They're right as hell like a nun.

I don't need a statue, when I need to pray,
The Jews got their temple, they like it that way,
But I never knew it was nice what they say.
Pentacostals told me son,
Could be I should try tongue.

Was tongues I'd heard and they were rancorous loud,
Like do-wah-diety, by Lot they vowed,
Thy rod and staffing's so Holy Cow.
But they never heard me none.

Come on ya sinnahs, low me a line,
Wend up your lingual, and crow up the shrine,
It's stained glass blurtin' of the diety kind.
Sooner now said by some,
Could be I should try tongue.

Sounds like a lot of stress on the potty with the constipation,
It sounds like "gas in bowl",
By the TP roll.

But these sinnahs all seem to have quite a lotta information,
For their diety,
But it's all soundin more like jive to me.

They say things to heaven at astounding rate,
I hear what they utter but say it I cain't,
Put the shaft to the sinners, can't cry like these saints.
Whimperin' out their lungs,
And could be I should try tongue.

Can't say or utter told you all that I could give to was some meditation,
I cannot blare you see,
So could it just be quiet prayer for me?

Went to Virginia, such a nice state,
Apostolic's there have lots of faith,
I'd sooner the latter than everyday saints,
They're right as hell like a nun.
Could be I should try tongues.
Could be I should try tongues.
Could be I should try tongues...

thought you meant beef tongue by the title...this concept is even funnier...love it...5s

Hmm, I thought you were going to segue into having your protagonist meet an attractive M.O.S. at church, and, later on, while parked under the moonlight, wonder if, maybe, perhaps.....

DRTOS well enough to vote, but I live in VA, and unless you just picked Virginia for artistic license, you got a seriously bad idea of what alot of Virginia is like. Most people I talk to have the same major issue with VA: Department of Transportation ( are they EVER going to get I-64 right? ). :)

PS-When I saw your parody title, I was expecting something, umm, a little different, but that would have been relagated to whatfreaks.com I suppose.

Red Ant - Check the OS. I'm mentioned in the OS in the same place that the parody author placed me. I'm also mentioned in several other places in the OS but he varied the verse in those places.

Will do, Virginia. Not a big Billy Joel fan, but I'll atleast get a copy of the lyrics and vote this.

This is the part I like best.."Can't say or utter told you all that I could give to was some meditation, I cannot blare you see, So could it just be quiet prayer for me?"

This is a good one Guy. 5's

Guy, this is funny, and I agree that it's jive--what you speak of ; not sure if you're rolling into heaven or hell for this one.

Alvin - Either way you bite your tongue. Thanks.

Johnny D Thanks, How could you even think that. This parody was about church. I'll have to do the heavy metal version for that and just call it tungsten.

Red Ant Thanks for your comments.

Virginia - Thanks for putting Red Ant straight.

Pat - I take it then that you are not a big fan of tongues?

Royce - The devil made me do it.

Some divine punning in this one, Guy. Loved the latter day saints and 'do-wah-deity' ones best.

C - Whew! From the title, I was worried this was going to be a food parody. If you're lookin' to try a new expression of faith, speaking in tongues is probably a lot safer for a novice than trying to get the hang of snake handling! :) (You aren't going to start writing parodies in tongue, though, right? :D)
