The Lyrics

The oldest superhero has his own thoughts on the other ones.
It's quiet in the Fortress of Solitude
No one needs me today
There's a whole crop
Of new heroes now
Refusing to do things my way

Don't worry 'bout me, I'm Superman
I'll be just fine on my own
Wait till you see all the work you have
Now that you've left me alone

There's Brucie, who hangs in a cave all day
With his young ward , Dick, in tights
And they say they fight crime a lot
But I know how they spend their nights

There's a young kid in a cheesy suit
Who likes to get kissed upside down
Why doesn't he chase girls
And never mind
'bout swinging his webs round the town?

la la la diddy da
la la da da
la dum

I think they're all kinda funny now
They all think that they're number one
Everyone thinks their super and moral now
But I know how they have their fun

There's an Amazon chick with a skimpy suit
and some rope that makes men tell the truth
But a rope and some wrist cuffs
make me think
That she was messed up in her youth...

And Barry Allen could vibrate fast
And Thor sports some long, lovely hair
And we know just what "flame on!" really means
and Dr. Strange has a weird flair

Oh, but DC and Marvel pushed me aside
So I'll just hang out in the snow
And as for these new fangled "heroes" now
They know where they can all go!

la la la diddy da
la la la da
la dum

Gee, Michael, what'd I do? Run over your dog or something??

Michael, you've gone from being a symbol of the far left to just plain ol' being a jerk. That was uncalled for. Shame on you.

Thank you, Bubba!

Duffy, I thought your parody was very enjoyable. BTW: Feel free to be truthful with your feelings for Michael Pacholec. He can take it. Plus the fact that, we rather enjoy watching him squirm. He is an equal oppourtunity offender. The guy dosen't mince his words, but most of us think that he can be a bit rude at times. It's like having an annoying kid brother.

It's nothing personal, I just thought it was a bad parody. OK, I do take things personally when it's a Billy Joel song that's done (as I see it) poorly. It doesn't mean you're a bad parody writer or a bad person. I just thought this one was terrible, especially since it wasn't exactly in character for Superman. I liked the one about the fried chicken, so they're not all like this.

It was nice of you to explain yourself, Michael. Please be a bit more patient with new writers. I think that you hurt her feelings and she took you comment as personally as you take Billy Joel. =(

Sorry, Michael, but I stand by this one: the pacing is good and the fact that is ISN'T like Superman is why I wrote it. We are DC and Marvel fanatics at my house, believe me, we know Superman! Billy Joel is my favorite performer, so I think I did the song justice. You don't like it, you don't like it, I can't help your taste. But I think you are consummately WRONG about this parody. You are the only one who DIDN'T like it, from this board or otherwise. Maybe it's YOU? ;)
