Well, well. Here I was working on another somewhat controversial parody, when this news story crosses my eye. Celebrity parent children getting free rides at Ivy League colleges and a bribery scandal to boot. Even when I found out that one of those famous kids will not give a damn about their education, well now you have struck the ire of the Vile man. Btw, I am sure that Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, by Pink Floyd would have worked here also.

Getting taught from there
Enrollment not fair

And even their grades suck

* = Obstacles for those who are more diligent in their studies that want to go for Ivy League schools. That would include minorities to a large extent. When you think about the "no child left behind" policy, some schools didn't want to enforce it based on merits, resume, or extra-curriculars. Maybe they should change it to "no minority left behind" as a means of being more inclusive. Take wealth and connections out of the equation.

Universities want some scholars, some athletes, some priority minorities, some children of rich parents. So some children get in as athletes when they should be classified as children of rich parents. So what. SAT shouldn't be sending out tests to every Tom Dick and Harry. What business is it of the FBI?

Affluence makes my heart go bitter. When businesses (or other well off industries like entertainment) start to make too much of an investment in education, I would expect that child would take advantage of the opportunity. This FBI investigation was at the early stages when I posted this, but I doubt we will be hearing from the Secretary of Education about this matter. Let alone changing endowment criteria for more affordable education.
