The Lyrics

Don't Know the Original Song (DKTOS)? Its on YouTube.
In the beginning
Back in nineteen sixty-five
Man got the dough to make an outer space show
And that's no jive
And what was the result
An interracial crew
No one knew how it was gonna do
Roddenberry thought it through
He said -

"Let there be Pike", there was Pike
"Let there be Boyce", there was Boyce
"Let there be Colt", there was Colt
"Let there be Jose", there was Jose
"Let there be Spock"

And it came to pass
A sci-fi show was born
But then it was panned, looked like it was canned
It needed to transform

So Roddenberry pondered
He made another pitch
With some different stars the show would go real far
So he made a big switch

He got several million dollars
Started right away
He held another round of casting
And this is what he had to say
"Let there be Kirk"
"Rand"
"Scott"
"McCoy"
"Let there be Spock"

It lasted three years, then the show was canned
Because the studio claimed there wasn't much demand
The reruns took off and they pulled in a crowd
And the fans spoke up and they said really loud
"Let there be Spock"

Great to see 3 AC/DC's on the same day. Excellent OS (my fave of theirs, along with Rosie). Parody fits the song well. I'm not a Trekkie, so I didn't know about the pre-Kirk cast.

You rock, Spock!!! My bro is more of a Trekkie than I am, though. But I've enjoyed this one! Live long and prosper on 5's, as Mark would say!

Rex - I remember Pike but who are those others? Pike commanded the Enterprise before Kirk. Pike was featured in a two parter in an episode called "The Menagerie". This episode helped to cast light on the original pilot that was never shown until 1988. It was entitled "The Cage".

Is this why I have never heard of the others? The second episode which actually became the pilot was entitled "Where No Man Has Gone Before", Parts of "The Cage" were incorporated into "The Menagerie". Spock tricked the crew and set the ship's computer up so it could not be diverted or controlled until it reached Talos IV. He took Pike to Talos IV. This planet was off limits and anyone who defied the order and be convicted would be sentenced to death. The aliens on Talos IV could create illusions that allowed Pike who was a complete invalid to experience normalcy. A human female there named Vina who appeared to be young, healthy and vibrant was also in reality badly disfigured. Spock's whole motive was to get Pike to a place where he could live the rest of his life happily. Vina and Pike were allowed to remain on Tallos IV and Spock escaped punishment.

Now for a Trek question, not a trick one:

What did Spock see when he looked into the toilet?
What else - the Captain's log. =;-)

Love Trek and Trek parodies. Good job here Rex.

:-D

..what, no pointy-eared Vulcan smiley?

Captain Pike would never have worked this side of the Atlantic.. could just imagine the scene: alien (with a strangely Germanic accent) would say "Vott iss your name, Captain?" and some other crew member would turn to him and say "Don't tell him, Pike" (if you don't get the reference, have a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0V3SqxUomwk )

Thanks Andy, mark, Christie, Guy, and Phil! Guy - to answer your question, among the crew of "Pike's" Enterprise were Christopher Pike, Commanding officer; Spock, Junior Science Officer; J. M. Colt, Yeoman; Phillip Boyce, Doctor; and Jose Tyler, Helmsman.

Most logical to give you 5's. How about a Spock parody to Cher's Halfbreed?!

Wow Rex, so these were real names from the Trek universe? How you incorporated them in the tune was pretty ingenious.

Star Trek and you is like Transformers and T-Cop... Both of you guys have a knack for writing parodies of your favorite television show.

I heartily approve--see you at the convention!

Terrific writing , not the funniest thing I've ever seen, but I liked the way you squeezed some potent details into a song that gives so little to work with.

(Artistry) Never actually seen anything Star Trek related, but due to general interweb reading I recognise some of these names. Not very funny, but just the idea of Bon Scott screaming about Star Trek is amusing all by itself. 555
