The Lyrics

I'm a big "Hunger Games" fan, so I knew I had to do a "Hunger Games" parody at some point. I felt like the OS name lends itself so perfectly to the topic. If you don't know a lot about the "Hunger Games"... what have you been living under a rock or something?! JK! Here's a wikipedia link if you want to educate yourself on the topic before you read it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunger_Games This particular song is only about the first book since it's the only one that had a movie made from it as of today, so I'm assuming it's the most universally known.
Verse 1: We've been sending tributes since I don't know when
It's that time of the year, for the Reaping again
Effie comes out, can't feel more afraid
Speaks up so loud, and I'm beginning to waiver
May the odds be in your favor
The first name pulled is Primrose Everdeen
So I shout out and beg that they take me
oh oh

Chorus: Me and Peeta, in the Hunger Games
May die! How can I return safe?
Me and Peeta, wish for younger days
We cry! And we're off on our way
No, I won't be the winner
Verse all these career killers
I'll try! My best to come back to you
Me and Peeta, don't know what to do
This time, I think that we might be screwed

Verse 2: I'm so angry and sad about the Capital's reign
I can't count all the lives, that been sent to their graves
Time for the show, Cinna primps and prods
Don't wanna go, cuz these people do not tire
They call me the girl of fire
One loud buzz and the platform starts to rise
One more look and then I'm blinded by light
Oh no!

Chorus: Me and Peeta, start the Hunger Games
I fly! Far away in the woods
Me and Peeta, go our separate ways
Bye bye! Think that he's gone for good
Yes, I feel cold and lonely
Hush when the pack comes closely
I hide! 'Til I get my choice arrows
Me and Peeta, are on diff'rent sides
A lie! He was my protector
Me and Peeta, try hard to survive
Unite! I could be his savior

Chorus: Me and Peeta, are the last two left
My, my! They say I must kill him
Me and Peeta, decide to protest
We'll die! If we both can't go free
We posed as star-crossed lovers
To return to our mothers
My my! Our plan worked so we can go!
Me and Peeta, won the Hunger Games!
I I! Hope that they leave us alone!

Good work although I haven't seen the movie. I did see "Battle Royale" though, which is supposed to be similar.

Similar concepts involved but totally different types of movies. For brutality it's "Battle Royale" which was banned in Japan. For an intense, majestic, and moral crusade against oppression, it's "Hunger Games". Nice work Blaydeman- 555!!!

Gahhhh!!! I've never seen Hunger Games! How can this be!!! I haven't read the books or even heard about them until this film came out. I'm sure this is a good parody but I have no idea what you're talking about.

That's alright Matty, no hard feeling on my part. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings with the comment I made in the notes before the song. The books are really good and the movie was pretty good too. You should check them out if you ever get the chance.

(Artistry Round 121 (Abba)) - Thanks for the link - I would have been totally lost with out it - I had to read both a couple of times before I caught on. It was a good synopsis in the end. "the major themes of The Hunger Games as "government control, 'big brother', and personal independence". Ah, so it's not a work of fiction after all!

(Artistry Round 121 (Abba)) - I've been under a rock. So thanks for providing the link. Good reader's digest version.

I havent read the book (and dont plan to) but did see the movie, which was enjoyable, and your parody was just as enjoyable. Lots of great rhymes and near rhymes, it does seem like this OS was made for it. This is my new favorite of your works, Blayde!

And here I thought "Hungry Hungry Hippo" was the hunger game. Nice synopsis of the story.

(Artistry) I haven't seen the film, but I have watched a review of it that was done in the style of a crazy homeless person (Chester A. Bum, look it up, it's hilarious) so I know the basic plot. Great movie sum-up, they're always tricky to do. 555!

Without seeing Hunger games this was just strange to me, reading a little about it didn't help--but as I always feel, there is nothing wrong with writing topical parodies, if they are entered in contests they may or may not do well, but they will do well among fans of whatever you write about. . .
