The Lyrics

While the original song depicted a sort of dystopia, at least one verse is true...we can create children inside a glass tube but what else has changed in nearly fifty years or what would be more timely predictions?
In The Year 2525

(Original Lyrics Zager & Evans)

In the year 2525
will humanity be still alive
Or will our legacy...
be an archive.....

In the year 3535
Meta Humans might be all that's left alive
You used to use a cell phone, that's true...
but now the cell phone is using you...

In the year 4545
Humans will be free of their original lives
If you tire of being Hemingway...
You can be Elvis for a day...

In the year 5555
Man is the last animal left alive
The other creatures gained their own minds...
and they left us far behind....

In the year 6565
What part of humanity will still be alive
They cast down the Bible God, you see....
They have a new God, Technology...

In the year 7510
Will Homo Sapiens meet his end?
It will do you no good to pray..
Man has bought out Judgement Day...

In the year 8510
There may be no humans left to defend...
It's only fair that those left should know..
This has been a long reality show......yes it has...

In the year 9595
Man and Woman no longer lead separate lives...
What's left of humanity...
Is a Pangaeic Obscenity...Oh Lord...

Throughout the Millenia
Mankind has often said "Duh!"
Some things are hard to explain...
To our tiny animal brains...

But with some Dr. Phil...
And a handful of hallucinogenic pills....
There must be another timestream....
Maybe this is all only a bad dream,....

Imaginative take on an already wildly fanciful lyric. We don't cast down the bible till 6565? Wow! That's a long wait! I shudder to think what a 'Pangaeoc obscenity' is. Guess I'll never know. 555 for deep thoughts and good pacing.

Pangaea was the name of the single super continent that was on Earth a long time ago. In a play on some humor my sister and I thought up when we were kids, we imagined all humans in existence to be part of one gigantic human shaped creature....that is what I meant by a pangaeic obscenity..
