The Lyrics

Explanation of our new genre, as in today's other post, "Mix Dusty Springfield; Rome-o (And Juliet)"
Matched to this OS video.

When I wake up each morning
Dusty's on my mind
With Shakespeare intertwined
Hamlet's troubles, Whoa-oh
Favor, curries: Rom'yo:
Juli-et's behind

Our intent: Dusty, join her -
With Will-ie's refrains
Rust: diseased, our brains
Writing "doubles", Whoa-oh
Post in flurries: Oh, no!
Minds, lame, roam again

Not a joke; it's a warning:
Dusty's on our mi-i-i-ind, and --
Shakes-peare gets combined
Cauldron bubbles, Uh-oh!
Witches stirring, Oh, no!
"MacBeth": some - day, find [1]

Make Bill more appealin':
His words con-fu-u-u-use, so:
Mo-dern songs, re-u-u-use
Yeah, it's quite a gamble, we know
We got a groove on; Let's go!
We're gonna rock on Avon's muse

English teachers, in mourning:
Shakespeare: students, bli-i-i-ind, 'cause --
-- They think he's a griiiiiiiind
So, are ours rubble? (Say, "No!")
Meaning blurry? (Hope, no)
Play and tune, entwined

[1] You've been warned. It's on the list, but no idea when.

'Oh, where for art thou, Son Of A Preacher man????" Classic!!!

To paraphrase Alexander Pope, "Hope Springfields eternal in these human beasts. To write is human, to write REALLY well is TT and FG."

Dusty is Ophelia. Look up my parody of "If You Go Away".

Wondrous wordplay you two!
And unlike Shakespeare's 'Julius Caesar', this Avon's never Gauling!
Three merrily bubblin' cauldrons o' fives!

To parody, or not to parody, that was the question...and this was a very good answer

Mark Scotti: Or "Daughter of a preacher-man", knowing now of Dusty's leanings .... Nice mashup yerself! Thanks!

Old Man Ribber: "To write together is human; to come together is divine.' I'm so glad that FG and I came together! (ponders whether to rephrase that, and *not* gonna touch the "breasts", so to speak.) ... Man, Ribber, Old, his comments, are we blessed." (follow-up line to your first quote). Thanks!

2Eagle: Repeating reply @ other post today, please see the Hamlet/Dusty mashup (just click the link, "Hamlet's troubles"), in which her tragic life was described, with its probable cause. Will check yours out, too. Thanks for v/c.

TJC: That's odd .... already started a parody on the bubbling cauldron -- sick minds think alike! Thanks for your classic quote, "All gall is divided into three Fives"! ;)

AFW: And that was a very nice comment, thank you.

Mark Scotti: Thanks! Nothing like the classics, I always say... which is why I like TT... ;)

OMR: Awwww... thanks, man

2Eagle: I beg your pardon! She washed her face and hands before she came, she did... Oh, wait-- wrong play. N/m. ;) Thanks for v/c, as always.

TJC: Thanks! I'd type more, but TT has turned me into a newt. ;)

AFW: (low curtsey) and a warm thank you, sir. :D

I looked up your parody of "If You Go Away". What does Ophelia have to do with Los Angeles or Australia? (Or Oktoberfest, or Monday Night Football?) ... sorry, Bro.

You read the wrong version. I did 3 parodies to "If You Go Away" and the one I meant was "Why I Kvetch All Day". That had your comment about Dusty being les and cutting herself. Anyway, her songs say she was co dependent - "You don't have to say you love me....".
TT - January 09, 2010 - Report this comment
Probably a case where a link would have been helpful, rather than searching an author with 159 parodies, including three of the cited OS, and there's have been no shame in that plug.

I don't get that from YDHTSYLM. It's a basic torch song about not wanting to be left. Elvis did it. Was he co-dependent? .. No, he was just dependent. (on many drugs to get through the rigorous tours, mostly uppers.)

Also, she wasn't co-dependent, she was dependent. The co-dependent is the person who is attached in an unhealthy way to the (substance- or whatever-) dependent person.

dictionary.reference.com/browse/co-dependent

co-de·pen·dent or co·de·pen·dent

"Of or relating to a relationship in which one person is psychologically dependent in an unhealthy way on someone who is addicted to a drug or self-destructive behavior, such as chronic gambling"

So, someone who was hooked on Dusty, and enabled her continued dependency rather than encouraging ther o seek treatment or quitting dependency, would be a co-dependent. (Might alter your parody -- will await that.) Cheers.
