Original Song Title:

"I Left My Heart In San Francisco"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Tony Bennett

Parody Song Title:

"It Broke My Heart When They Banned Disco"

Parody Written by:

Alvin Rhodes

The Lyrics

the clubs, back then, were garish
the clothing rather gay
the glory of the strobes
turned night time into day
i've been dancing all alone
i've been flattened on manhattans
i really miss those glitzy cabarets

it broke my heart...when they banned disco
high were my heels...a taller me
to be where little disco stars
hung out in flashy bars
the platform clogs
and poofy hair
now, they're square

it was not fair...when they banned disco
it was as groovy as can be
in nineteen-eighty-two
they banned disco
we'd go for fun
what times for me

Disco sucks. Bill Veeck lives. Steve Dahl rules. (The man who did "Disco Demolition Night" with Veeck at Comiskey Park on July 12, 1979 is now on WCKG, 105.9 FM 2-7 PM in Chitown.) But this is a good parody.

Well you can tell by the way I move my keys
I'm an Alvin-Fan with Envy-Green!
Humor loud and grinnin' strong,
I guffawed and laughed aloud so long!

But that's all right
That's okay
I hope he writes another day
We can try
To understand
The AmiRight's effect on man!
