Original Song Title:

Original Performer:

The Young Rascals

Parody Song Title:

"Rubin’"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Rubin’, actin’ like a cracker dude,
reelin’ off an “aw, shucks!” attitude.

As an actor, he has got it together,
pretending that of his “betters” he’s lesser.
He’s coming off authentically, but he is
foolin’ most folks in this here venue;
à la carte folksiness on the menu.

He is playing a rube convincingly,
but this dude for sure ain’t convincing me,
even though he never misses a beat in
rubin’, plyin’ rustic platitudes.
Fooled ones ply him with their gratitudes,
though he’s so faux.

He’s playin’ ’em for suckers every day;
he is conning them in many a way.
His acting talent needs a play by play.
What from him next we’ll see?
The next effort will be
rusin’ in a method that is new,
fleecin’ everyone in his purview—
mo’ faux smoke-blow.

rusin’, suckerin’ chumps.
