Parody Song Title:

"Hand Me Your Treasure (Socialist Anthem)"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Imagine me and you, and you and me
United in utopian community
Where birds will sing and money will, grow on a tree
So happy together

If you should work so hard, and earn a dime
Then I'll say it belongs to me; it's not a crime
Just keep the money rolling in, and we'll be fine
So hand me your treasure

I can't let you spend all your money on you
For all your life
I'm just way more caring and brainier too
I guess that's life

Me and you and you and me
I haven't really learned a thing, since I was three
As long as it's the way I want, then I'll agree
So hand me your treasure

If you should get upset, and say that I'm
a thieving weasel I'll call you, a heartless slime
Just trust me stupid really it, will work this time
So hand me your treasure

I can't let you spend all your money on you
For all your life
I can't trust that you'd do with it what I'd do
Not on your life

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba.......

So hand me your treasure
(Ba ba ba ba--ba ba ba ba)
So hand me your treasure
(Ba ba ba ba--ba ba ba ba)
I'll spend it with pleasure
(Ba ba ba ba--ba ba ba ba)
So hand me your treasure
(Ba ba ba ba--ba ba ba ba).........

late comment, I know, but that was good!

It was well-written, but i must take issue with Prez's politics . . . maybe this isn't the right place for that, though. Too many Rightist arseholes in this world already, including America's beloved President-vegetable.
Claude Prez - July 09, 2003 - Report this comment
I'm not sure I understand. Is someone automatically an "arsehole" if he disagrees with you about the proper role of government?
Michael Pacholek - July 09, 2003 - Report this comment
Oliver, I think you owe vegetables an apology. Especially broccoli. (Daddy Bush publicly refused to eat it.)
Oliver Levy - September 26, 2003 - Report this comment
Sorry to all vegetables. I can undersand the 'Bush' comparison causing deep offence. You understand, I have to balance my politically-correct tolerance of other peoples' opinions with a firebrand conviction in the politics of the Left. It's not always easy. What I object to is that people will assume that this parody (which is presumably about Stalinism in particular) represents the whole spectrum of Marxist ideology, especially with the obscenely broad 'Socialist' tag that the title gives it. With BNP councillors elected in Oldham and Burnley, kneejerk attacks on random Muslims after September 11 (most of it prompted by the news media's association of Islam with terrorism), and Jean-Marie Le Pen coming desperately close to deporting France's immigrants, I don't think this is the right time to discourage people from following the Communist ideal.
Claude Prez - September 26, 2003 - Report this comment
Sorry. It must be a coincidence that any country that tries to follow your "Communist ideal" winds up devastated by poverty and tyranny. That pesky human nature, I guess. No, we certainly wouldn't want to turn people off that bonanza. Spray it with all the fancy cologne you want; people know a stinker when they see it. P.S. Thanks for calling attention to this song again; I think I picked up another vote.
Tom Ambler - November 18, 2003 - Report this comment
Hey, hey hey! This guy's making some good points about Communism being quite effective actually, thank you very much, and you come along with your blinkered view of politics and make sure all workers' paradises get tarnished with the same brush! Ever been to Cuba?
Claude Prez - November 19, 2003 - Report this comment
What "good points"? What "workers' paradises"? And why would I go to a place that people are always trying to escape from?
Max - December 29, 2003 - Report this comment
I'm sorry my friend, but I think you misunderstood mr. Levy about his view of Socialism. The point that I think he is trying to make is that normally to people that are not familiar with that knid of Phylosofical politics tend to put in the same pack the views of Marx, Lenin, Mao tse, etc. If you can find some time I actually recomend you to read Kapital, the book of Marx that was interpreted by Lennin and others in an unnusual way. And about cuba, I don't think that is a workers paradise but it's certainly not a place where people are trying to escape all the time. I find it a really nice island where people are really nice to talk to.
Spaff.com - December 30, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanx, Max, for drawing attention to another lovely Claudework. Socialism is lovely in principal, lousy in practice. Like it or not, we're all hard-wired for selfishness. Capitalism has serious flaws (I like poking fun at its excesses as much as the next guy), but it, um, capitalizes on the reality of human nature better than any other economic system. As for Cuba, I agree that it is "a really nice place where people are really nice to talk to," but that describes every place on the planet. And if people aren't trying to escape, where do all those desperate flotillas come from? Puerto Rico?

Heh heh-- thanks for filling in for me in my absence, Spaff; you certainly put it better than I could've. I'll just add that no way do I have time to read Marxist crap; I'm way too busy writing important songs about boogers and stuff.
Oliver Levy - January 08, 2004 - Report this comment
Yes, songs about boogers are fine with me.
