Song Parodies -> "Cruz Bustamante"

Original Song Title:

"Guantanamera"

Original Performer:

The Sandpipers

Parody Song Title:

"Cruz Bustamante"

Parody Written by:

Bob Gomez

The Lyrics

Quoted parts are spoken by the probable next governor of California. I can
translate this into Spanish if you really want me to.
"I am a short, balding, fat politician from the land of the spray-on tans...
"And before I accept the challenge of leading the sixth largest economy in the
world....
"I would just like to say that Gray Davis is so wooden, he makes Al Gore look like
Robin Williams......"

(Farmworkers sing in chorus:)
Cruz Bustamante!
We love you, Cruz Bustamante!
Cruz Bustamante!
Arriba Cruz Bustamante!

"It's not easy to face off against a seven-time Mr. Universe and internationally
known film star....
"But luckily we're not arm-wrestling or running from exploding trains.....
"We're wrestling a $38,000,000,000 deficit and running on empty......"

(Tom Cruise, Warren Beatty, Sharon Stone and Barbra Streisand sing:)
Cruz Bustamante!
Or Edward James Escalante!
Emily Bronte!
We're voting Armand Assante!

"I shall go out into the hinterlands and villages I love so well....
"Where native peoples will embrace me with fists full of casino cash....
"I will for their contributions return a thousand promises of alcohol prevention
programs, tax breaks, and even bigger casinos...."

(Native Americans in suits and ties singing and dancing:)
No on the recall!
But yes on Cruz Bustamante!
No on the recall!
But yes on Cruz Bustamante!

"For all of the people of the Great State of California....
"For all the Black People, White People, Brown People, Yellow People and Red
People......
"But not the Gray people.......
"I would just like to Terminate my remarks by saying......"

"Cruz Bustamante!
My name is Cruz Bustamante!
Cruz Bustamante!
It rhymes with Hyundai and Dante!"

("All together now!")
No Terminator!
We're egging you, Schwarzenegger!
Hasta la vista.....
That means we no see you later!

In California
We're voting Cruz Bustamante!
Davis, we warned ya.....
We're voting Cruz Bustamante!
©Bob Gomez 2003 P.S. Edward James Olmos played Jaime Escalante in "Stand and Deliver."

Great job Bob (And I b-a-r-e-l-y know the song) but still...oh, and "bad parodies" too, while I'm thinkin' about it ("sick puns in my head"--heh)

Good job! Unlike Cruz, this parody is a winner! :-D

Thanks, folks. This was guilty fun for me; nobody can satirize the left better than the left, I say. And if Cruz does win, how about Merry and Pip ending the suspense? Or at least getting a virtual spanking? d;:^)
