The Lyrics

With my first posting of this one I realised - too late - that it had a word missing; only one, but that was enough to put me into full-on OCD-mode. The choice was simple; either re-post it with the missing word added in, or spend the rest of my life stabbing myself in the eyes with a pencil every time I see it on the AmIRight site. And the second option hurts. Sooooo... here it is (properly this time.) And here again is the link to the original 'Stones song.
I’m in the red now but I should be in the black
Mister Bank Manager, won’t you get off my back?
Gave me an overdraft and, boy, did I collect
I’m broke you stupid banker, what did you expect?

I know you like to see I’m never in the black
‘Cause all your charges make a great counter-attack
You just let me borrow more; it’s not hard seeing why
‘Cause it bought your timeshare and your Lotus GTI

You said you’d sort my debts out with a pers’nal loan
Now you send tons of spam calls to my mobile phone
Try to sell me cover for my car and my house and pet
‘Cause all you can think of is how much more you can get

Think I’ll be in the red forever, not in black
I owe so much I can’t afford to pay it back
Why let me have the cash when you knew I had none?
It’s not just me, no, you’ve been screwing everyone

Now even you are in the red and not the black
In any other business you’d all get the sack
Taxpayers bailed you out on government advice
It didn’t change a thing, now you just rob us twice

Mmmm mmm-mmm mmm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mmmmmm…
Mmmm mmm-mmm mmm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mmmmmm…
Mmmm mmm-mmm mmm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mmmmmm…
Mmmm mmm-mmm mmm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mmmmmm…

I wish I could be back in…. back in black!
That’s a scream – black’s a dream!
You wanna see me poor… keeping my in-ter-est
You wanna keep me payin’ it, payin’ it, payin’ it. payin’ it back… yeah!

Mmmm mmm-mmm mmm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mm-mmm mmmmmm…
Mmmm mmm-mmm mmm-mmm... (oh, you get the idea..!)

I looks like you've had a banker voting already :) I hope for your sake this isn't autobiographical..

This is right on the money...adds the right touch of light humor to an otherwise heavy situation

How else could they afford their £million+ bonuses? LOL @ "now you just rob us twice" line. Great OS & exc pacing btw.

Fine black humor.

I reckon I'll be in the red til I'm dead. Reminds me of my dentist posing in his sports car; all white teeth and black soul. Love the tune, pacing and humour.

Guess I'll have to leave an "improved" comment for your upgraded song. Don't know about the UK, but the working class in the US that are being preyed upon by every parasite on the planet collectively own about 300 million firearms. Not that shooting would solve much of anything. That's why the upper echelons already have their bug-out sites (fortified retreats) ready. I am familiar with teen-age girls who can spend their parents' money with no concept of its limits or where it comes from. One of these girls is my age (57). Sadly, the people who got hold of the controls have about the same economic sense as a 14 year-old spoiled teenager. When our National Health System goes into effect, I just wonder how long the Chinese are going to continue lending us money to pick up the health care demands of half the population of Mexico.

Agreeing with Phil on this one. Probably a banker in the audience. Very well done.

Enjoyed the parody. Pacing was off a little in a couple of spots, but overall well done. So true.
