The Lyrics

Where to start on David Tredinnick, MP for Bosworth.. an actively anti-scientific campaigner, he has tried toget the NHS to fund all sorts of woo from homoeopathy to healers and "therapeutic touch". He has claimed for astrological consultancy on his MP's expenses.

What makes this slightly surreal is that earlier today he was elected onto the parliamentary Science and Technology Committee.
He's a maverick MP
Who likes homoeopathy
Now on the Science Select Committee,
I cannot believe my eyes
It's too much to satirize
Thinks alt-med should get state subsidy

Wake up, dim MPs
Show some thought here, please:
He's a witchcraft believer
David Treddinick, MP

Likes astrology
And aromatherapy
Now you know how silly he can be.
Yes, he's just this kind of twot:
When the moon's full, blood won't clot
"Theraputic touch" should have state subsidy?

Wake up, dim MPs
This is worse than sleaze:
He's a witchcraft believer
David Treddinick, MP

Wake up, dim MPs
Science? Oh, puh-lease
He's a witchcraft believer
David Treddinick, MP

Wake up, dim MPs
Can't believe it, Jeez..
He's a witchcraft believer
David Treddinick, MP

Phil - Certainly bizarre, but no more so than nations under Shia Law belonging to the U.N. Commission On The Status Of Women. Moreover, didn't many of the most notable figures of the 18th Century Enlightenment (including the American Benjamin Franklin) attend the rites of The Hellfire Club? Once again, I've strayed from the subject. Nice job here. ;D

Somebody HAD to spoof an MP who claims astrological consulatancy as valid expenses to be reimbursed by taxpayers. Nobody could have done it any better than this.

OMR - I think you're right about Franklin attending the Hellfire club: that would have been a couple of miles away from where I am now :-)

JJ - that happened a while back; what makes it surreal and almost beyond satire is the guy getting voted (well, elected unopposed) onto the Science and Tech parliamentary committee.

Anyway.. thanks, all :-)

Sounds just like the subject of my "Daydream Believer" parody. There must be something in the water, or maybe a full moon.
