The Lyrics

The Monkees may be gone, but the monkeys are still everywhere (Davos, Kyoto, Washington, and especially Nashville).
I thought earth was headed for catastrophe
I thought global warming was for real
Polar ice is melting
(I used to say)
Temperatures are high
(I used to say)
Pretty soon we're all just gonna die

Then I got a brain
Now I'm a denier
Not insane
Like I used to be
I'm informed
I'm a denier
Gore's a big liar yessirree

I thought truth was more or less a give-and-take
Theories could be proved by taking polls
Once you get consensus
(I used to say)
Then it's Q.E.D.
(I used to say)
There's no need to test empirically

Then I got a brain
Now I'm a denier
Not insane
Like I used to be
I'm informed
I'm a denier
Gore's a big liar
yessirree

You're a denier all right! In desperate denial of the world's problems! full 1s all round full your brainless mound o' feces!

You're a believer all right! In measured blowback against all of the Gore cult's idiocies! Full 555s all round for your brainy stroke of genius!

Nicely crafted....and controversial! (its already elicited some pretty polarized comments). Reminds me of that Michael Crichton book "State of Fear"

For a minute I though you might be a charter member of my dad's club.

I thought you were being sarcastic, but from the looks of your first two comments, I'm guessing you honestly mean it. So you think global warming's a lie, huh? Then explain why we happen to be having freakishly warm weather. Tell your friends to stop polluting the air with so much car exhaust and the like and you won't HAVE to deny it!
Michael Pacholek - May 21, 2007 - Report this comment
Now, now, now. He did pace it well. Which, of course, makes him a minority within the Republican Party. There are no longer any honest people who question whether there is global warming. The only thing left to debate is, what can we do about it? That depends on what's causing it, and whether it can be reversed; if so, do it; if not, then we've got to figure something else out. Reasonable people can disagree on what to do about it; honest people have to admit that global warming is happening. Even if they don't like Al Gore, who most certainly is not exaggerating on this particular subject.
John Jenkins - May 21, 2007 - Report this comment
I would say that Gore is more of an exaggerator than a liar, but this is an excellent spoof on the Academy Award winning documentary. Some of what Gore has to say might be true, but most of what he says about global warming is either exaggerated or unproven. For example, he claims that sea levels will rise by 20 feet within the next century, while the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change projects less than a 20 inch rise by 2101. But I have to say that Mr. Pacholek’s compliment on Jeff’s pacing really stings. Because I only know of 7 Republicans on AmiRight (besides Jeff): Royce Miller, Guy DiRito, Steve Kalafut, Linda Terhune, the Florio brothers, and I. And the first three have excellent pacing; so, if Mr. Pacholek thinks that Jeff’s good pacing puts him in the minority, I think I know what Mr. Pacholek thinks about my pacing (even though 50% is not a minority).

Where is this "freakishly warm weather" you're gibbering about? I haven't seen any. Two of those idiotic global warming conferences of yours actually had to be called off because of BLIZZARDS! Now, just as we predicted back when that happened, you're yelling that the sky is falling and we're all gonna die because it's hot. In May. Yeah. I hate to imagine how you'll be screaming when July gets here! There was plenty of global warming in the middle ages, people; then everything froze again and Greenland became almost uninhabitable. Everybody could use some global warming up north, truth be told...

A Very large part of Antartica just broke off from heating up due to the Southern O-Zone, I guess that's a lie? I'm sorry, but Global Warming is not idiotic, I'm not a political big wig here, but I don't see anything political about global warming, it is a real problem . . .I'm not yelling that the sky is falling. . .but Antartica disappearing isn't in my mind, and the Skin Cancer rates rising in Australia isn't in my mind, they are both facts. . .they can't be honestly denied, and to act like it's just going to stop as people continue to drive Hummers to do their grocery shopping and Escalades to stop by the Post Office, we aren't even trying to dent the problem. . .that's the truth. . .and what you are saying about Greenland wasn't caused by pollution or something un-natural--there is a big difference, species are in danger.
Kristof Robertson - May 22, 2007 - Report this comment
I'm totally with BA Dave on this one...when something as important as the future of the earth is used as a political football, then I despair. To deny that we are killing an increasingly fragile earth with out voracious appetite for consumables is, IMHO, ignorant. It may not happen in our lifetimes, but it WILL happen if we continue to pollute the way we do now.
This is a well-written parody, but I can't vote on it because it is so against what I believe to be true
McKludge - May 22, 2007 - Report this comment
Um, Freezing Guy, you do realize it is called "Global" Warming, not "Local" Warming, and is based on temperature averages, not specific days.
Michael Pacholek - May 22, 2007 - Report this comment
John, whatever happened to Guy DiRito? I haven't seen him since the last Presidential election or thereabouts. Did something unpleasant happen to him? Or did he just, unlike the rest of us, get a life? Anyway, you're also forgetting Sarcastic Paranoid (poor pacing) and Coral Snake (it varies among his parodies). That's nine, not counting the occasional "Proud American" who spews his venom. It also doesn't count my evil twin Bernard, but then, he's a fictional character, so don't worry about that. (He's not too good at pacing, either.)

And one I think you and I have more often then you think Jon. . .I respect all opinions. . .and I don't tend to post hateful things, I'm willing to forgive and apologize, and move on, you and I have nothing to argue about really, and it's silly to continue this negativity towards each other. . .I offer a truce

"I thought truth was more or less a give-and-take Theories could be proved by taking polls" Heh heh heh! That's what Michael really hates about this song: it describes the way he does all his "science" and religion, not just his politics. It also describes how the entire green movement avoids facing any contradictory evidence, the same way the entire left does. Your findings don't match the desired result? Then you'll either bury it somewhere and never speak of it again, or we'll strip you of your tenure, fire you, and censor you from the news channels. Then we can claim that no one contradicts the "consensus" except a few pathetic cranks who couldn't get tenure with the establishment!
John Jenkins - May 22, 2007 - Report this comment
Michael, I wish I knew. But, by asking what happened to him only, are you implying that you know what happened to Royce Miller?

Very well done parody. And BTW for all you AGW fans out there, If you think consensus has anything to do with science, you should not be allowed to reproduce. You are truly that dumb! If, as you lemmings believe, it's a proven theory , then junkscience.com has an easy way for you to mak a cool 100 grand. Just prove it!! Good luck trying.

Right on parody!!! To the other side: emotional consensus (does not equal) science.

I have a complaint. It needs more verses. "Gore was out to get me" do,do dah, do. "that's the way it seemed" do, do dah, do. Toe tapping goodness.
Phil Alexander - February 12, 2018 - Report this comment
This is an extremely good parody, shame it's fundamentally misguided & shows a lack of understanding about what scientific consensus is. Ten years on, eight of those years have been the hottest globally on record: I wonder if the author still believes?
Steve Balkor - February 12, 2018 - Report this comment
Why are Europeans so dumb? Hot & cold earth cycles come and go, even before industrialization and huge populations in the billions. Can Phil or any scientist prove the earth is not going through another hot cycle. In a word- No! So piss off Phil and also explain how Al Gore's predictions of global flooding proved false. I might add that polar and Antarctic ice samples as scientific evidence are misleading in the extreme. WHERE you take them matters!!! Btw, the Polar bears are doing fine A-hole, atheist, GMO Monsanto goon!

Bravo! Reminds me of the Dodo Bird extinction explanation. Hunted to death. True or False? Mostly False. The Spanish brought pigs and rats with them that multiplied and ate all the Dodo eggs until there were none left. Each female dodo only laid one egg per cycle, so easy to kill their offspring in a short amount of time. This argument is very similar to the GW nonsense. How can you have higher world temps along with higher polar vortexes in the same years? Record heat alongside record cold? Weather is just crazy and meteorologists have been proven wrong throughout history all over the globe. Sims also can be manipulated. Doesn't necessarily match reality.
