Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

An all-time record-breaking budget deficit, to be paid off with your children's souls, or perhaps by Obama's "magic you shouldn't believe in".

Do you believe in magic? It's Obama's art
How he screws us so freely, whenever speech starts
Thinks it's magic; His reforms are so groovy
We shake and feel crappy, like we need a "roofie" [1]
How well he can tout the magic whenever cameras roll
But no denying his numbers sinking in…ev'ry poll

Still he believes in magic, and keeps up the ruse
But his lame “solutions” just give us the blues
A pearly glisten… just a Cheshire-cat smile
All the hype: a disgrace, supremely unqualified
But he starts rapping and the public turns blind
To this nightmare—it just blows our minds

We do believe it's tragic, and it's wrong to see
The chances they're taking with our de-mo-cra-cy
It may be "adios" to our rights
The future we borrowed came at quite a price
Take humble stance, the foreign pow'rs appease [2]
Now there’s *one* thing we can use when we’re all speaking Chinese! [3]

Rat! But still he weaves his magic

(Bleah!)

Conceives of the magic, sells our young ones’ souls
Deceives: Lackeys snatch at “free press” control [4]
Naïve: Try to patch it up with spending sprees [5]

Fool! Squawk and spout “magic”

Do *you* believe as we believe? -- The budget: hemorrhagic :
"Change to believe?" We're all so peeved; we need "Gold-man Retriever" [6]
At debt, we grieve; TT believes he'll leave and go pelagic [7]

[Fade: our hopes; but grow: our debts]

[1] Slang for the trade name Rohypnol™ (generic: flunitrazepam), a powerful tranquilizer/sleeping pill, which, like all others, amplifies the effects of alcohol, and vice versa. The fact that it is colorless, tasteless, and odorless led to many reports of drinks being spiked with it, leading to "date rape". However, blood analysis of victims in various studies showed that it was used in 1% or less of reported and verified cases, and that the most common drug involved in verified date rape cases was plain, old, ordinary alcohol, by itself. (A fact that doesn't make good material for a media circus.)

[2] I.e. bowing to other heads of state

[3] Who own us, or, at this rate, shortly will

[4] Refusal to be “transparent” as promised

[5] Contrary to popularly-promoted belief, you cannot spend yourself rich.
You can produce, invest, and save yourself rich, but you can't spend yourself rich. Try it for yourself ...
Didn't work, huh? ... Multiply yourself times 310 million. What didn't work for you doesn't work any better for all of us combined.

[6] I. e., to get back ("retrieve") the huge bailouts given to Goldman Sachs and other firms, hundreds of millions of which are being paid in bonuses to employees. And our apologies for insult-by-association to a noble breed of dog! :)

[7] I. e., back to the ocean.

Are roofies covered by the new plan? Or is the term 'roofie" going to be a treatment in the new plan(meaning you're out of luck, so throw yourself off a roof)!!!! LOL

And he spends his time getting on the Repubs. Doesn't he know he has a majority? There will be many magic budgets in the next few years - or more taxes. Good write.

Would you rather get back to Reaganomics and nuclear weapon stockpiling?
Patrick - February 04, 2010 - Report this comment
A great song, and a lesson in pharmacology. And I like it when you use songs I remember.

Yes.

(Did you mean, "and end the Carter-era stagflation and begin 18 years of prosperity, minus only the 1987 hiccup, nothing like the current screaming nose-dive, and convince the Kremlin that they could not achieve their announced goal of world domination, encouraging more sensible leaders like Gorbachev, and challenging said Gorby to tear down the Berlin Wall, which did in fact happen, leading to a reunified Germany that would never otherwise have happened, thus encouraging other puppet states to rebel, causing the downfall of the Soviet Union and the end to the 40+ years of Cold War, after which Reagan and Gorby held the SALT talks, drastically cutting back said nuclear stockpile and enabling the military budget to be reduced? ...... See first answer.)

btw, did you vote the Ones? Not accusing, just curious; but if so, at least stand behind them. Or state what you did vote, as most people do if it's below a top vote.
Well, while I'm here anyway... - February 04, 2010 - Report this comment
Had intended to let FG come-ment first, but seeing 2E's question... so, ...

Mark Scotti: That, or the new plan will cover dosing ourselves with roofies to calm our misery, much like the drug "Soma" in "Brave New World" (George Orwell) ... come to think of it, there's a lot Orwellian about Obamaman. Thanks for ROFL comment/v!

Timmy1k: With the coming inflation from all these deficits and the money they're printing to cover them, I suggest changing your name to Timmy 1M, or possibly Timmy1G, to give yourself some lead time ... thanks for v/c!

Patrick: Please provide a list of all songs that you remember, and we'll try our best to accommodate, as always. :-D ... Disclaimer: TT is not a pharmacologist, though he *is* a farmecologist; i. e., goes around to farms checking the ecology, making sure the sheep are well-fed, well-watered (heh heh), and otherwise have all of their needs met. .. thanks for v/c!

Mark Scotti: ROFL!! (Think of the cost savings!) ;)

T1K: I think he has more of an eye to this year's elections and needs to "prop up" the party. Just a guess. Thanks as always for v/c!

2Eagle: You've been "Turtled" already, I see... (It'll be OK-- really.) But, yes... I think Reagan was seriously underrated-- and still is. Thanks for v/c! :)

Patrick: We often find ourselves looking blankly at the OS listings on here as well! (And TT is nothing if not helpfully informative) ;) Thanks for v/c!

@ TT: There, there... How could anyone with "Eagle" in their name be a pusillanimous unobomber? Really, now. :)
TT @ FG - February 04, 2010 - Report this comment
Informative, yes; "helpful" is questionable, on a cbc basis (financialese for "case by case")... guess if you want to take (or give) roofies, it was helpful...

Re: 2E: After seeing his comment at the other parody, I'm even less inclined to think so, (as posted there), but it's OK to say what you voted, or that you abstained, thus removing all doubt, as TT does in such cases. The other parody comment included technique comment; this one didn't. If Fived, then indeed 2E gets the AFWard (see other song.)

I *do* believe in 'magic'--and smoke, and mirrors, and relentless homogenization--and in the Rhynamic Duo's poignant n' piquant polodies! You've sung n' summed me to a T (and another T and an F and a G)! And now if you don't mind, I've got to get back to 'Donkey' Kong (Must beat Carter's score!)...

LOL on your comment - we'll all soon be millionaires, but all it will get us is a loaf of bread.

As this parody does, more and more people are seeing through the president's "magic." Clever parody, particularly "hemorrhagic."

bArRaK mOi-Blaine oBaMa: "Smoke Gets In Our Eyes", eh? :) Thanks for v/c!

2Eagle: Sharp comeback! ;) ... Funny you should mention that -- but tomorrow's (Friday's) post isn't Shakespeare, but another classic by a different classic author. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Timmy1T (terabucks): Unfortunately, it's happened so many times before -- Mexico, South America (many), post-WWI-Germany -- why do people think "it can't happen here"? Too true to be funny...

John Jenkins: We hope more and more continue to see "the man behind the curtain" of smoke. Thanks for your "bloody-nice" comment (as our British friends would say) and vote.

Sorry I was away yesterday. I don't know why, but I feel indifferent believing about Obama's plans ever since his State of the Union speech. Only time will tell. About roofies, I remember that South Park episode. I also heard that drug dealers in Orange, NJ were selling roofies, but they're actually undercover cops. I'm not taking them, so don't worry! Barack's proposal is not only going to take a lot of magic, but it's also going to take a miracle as well. Nice to hear this from a Fiddlegirl's and turtle's point of view! $555 for proposal!

Very good job! And to think that, in 1980, candidate G.H.W. Bush called Reagan's proposals "Voodoo Economics". ;D
Tommy Turtle - February 05, 2010 - Report this comment
Christie Marie M: No need to apologize! -- although, of course, you're always missed! ... Somehow, Congress and the Pres have never asked FG and TT for *their* input on the issue - go figure! ;) ... Yep, miracles are all that's left .... sad. Thanks for v/c!

Old Man Ribber: "A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government". – Thomas Jefferson. ... Is anyone in Washington listening? Hello? Hellloooo....? ..

Excellent point about the Voodoo thing. Reagan's administration began 18 years of almost uninterrupted prosperity; Obama proposes a national debt of $43,00 for every man, woman, and child in the US, and a total "unfunded liability" (incl Medicare, SS, etc.) equal to the annual Gross National Product of the entire *planet*. Voo's calling voom voodoo now, huh? ... thanks for v/c!

Echoed thanks to B. mOi-Blaine, John Jenkins, CMM and OMR ("You remind me of a man"..."What man?"..."The man with the power"..."What power?"..."The power of voodoo!"..."Who-do?"... "You do!"... "Do what?"..."Remind me of a man..." etc, etc.) :D
@ 2Eagle and Everyone: Updating That Debt Figure In The Last Paragraph of Second Comment Above - January 15, 2011 - Report this comment
@2Eagle: Reagan had "voodoo economics"? This Just In re: Obamanomics:

"The United States just passed a dubious milestone: Government debt surged to an all-time high, more than $14 trillion. ... Today's debt level represents a $45,300 tab for each and everyone in the country." (up from the $43,000 figure in that comment from less than a year ago. Looks like that "proposed" budget, um, "underestimated" the actual resulting deficit. - TT.)

THE BLAME GAME::

"It soared from $7.6 trillion in January 2005 as President George W. Bush began his second term to $10.6 trillion the day Obama was inaugurated and to $14.02 trillion now. "

THE MATH GAME:

GWB 2nd term: Jan. 20, 2005 - Jan. 20, 209 = increase of $3 trillion, or $750 billion/year.

Obama inaugurated Jan. 20, 2009 (with Democratic supermajority in Congress) - today, Jan. 15, 2011 = increase of $3.6 trillion in a little less than two years, or $1.8 trillion/year, a 140% increase in the annual rate of growth of the debt. "Change is all you can be leave in" your pocket, 'cuz the dollars are running out.

THE FUTURE:

"With a $1.7 trillion deficit in budget year 2010 alone, and the government on track to spend $1.3 trillion more this year than it takes in, annual budget deficits are adding roughly $4 billion a day to the national debt. Put another way, the government is borrowing 41 cents for every dollar it spends."

Excessive borrowing to buy houses led to the crash of the housing market. What will happen when excessive borrowing leads to the crash of the Government?

Maybe something better will take its place. - TT.
