The Lyrics

a long time ago, when the earth was green,
there was more kinds of instruments than you've ever seen,
and they gave them out free,
as your kids were bein born,
but the loveliest of all was the flugelhorn

there were trombone players,
and stuff with reeds,
some timpani panels,
and a flute for me
some strings and things that shooky up, but sure as you're born,
the loveliest of all was the flugelhorn..

now Chopin was writing, and it gave him pain,
he said stand back I'm gonna make it plain,
he said hey you conductor, I'll tell you what to do,
teach him to play it too,

and get some of them trombone players,
and stuff with reeds,
some timpani panels,
and a flute for me
some strings and things that shooky up, but sure as you're born,
the loveliest of all was the flugelhorn..

the conductor was there to answer the bell
he said stand back, and he played it like hell
he played with the flugel, and when he was through,
he said just what to do

get me some trombone players,
and stuff with reeds,
some timpani panels,
and a flute for me
some strings and things that shooky up, but sure as you're born,
the loveliest of all is still the flugelhorn..

and chopin pumped out a minuet with pain,
and sounds of compassion, musically a strain,
he said for the solo, whatever you do,
flugels will play in twos,

and get some of the trombone players,
and stuff with reeds,
some timpani panels,
and a flute for me
some strings and things that shooky up, but sure as you're born,
the loveliest of all was the flugelhorn

the piece started groovin, and it sounded good outside
it all was so beautiful, the conductor he cried,
he paired off the orchestra two by two,
and he called out and they did too

hey lord, I got your trombone players,
and stuff with reeds,
some timpani panels,
and a flute for me
some strings and things that shooky up, but sure as you're born,
the loveliest of all was the flugelhorn..

The really funny thing was that I was originally going to do ours as "flugelhorn" instead of Alpenhorn, but then I couldn't get the Ricola in...! :-D

That was 3 minutes, Malcolm? Spritely little parody that you did a good job on. Glad I looked it up.

they're all about three minutes, Adagio.. that's why I mis-spell and have two rordsstrung together now and then.. by the time I'm writing the last verse, I have the next one in my head..
