The Lyrics

Well, guess it's time to roll out one of my recurring parody characters for this one..."The Fly"...the one from the movie made in the late 50's with Al (David) Hedison as the poor schmoe scientist who accidently transforms himself into a "half-fly/half-guy" and Vincent Price as the on-screen character who serves to present the Narrative and Point-of-View of the story. OH...the OTHER recurring character is the poor schmoe who ALWAYS ends up dealing with "The Fly"...we get the "POV" from him...and he is decidedly less urbane and genteel than Vincent Price...
[brief instrumental intro]

Eeeewww!
Heard this fly say at lunch
"Say, please can you help me, dude?
I transformed myself
Head's stuck on a fly's body now"

I looked at that fly
then shook my head "No"
Really just not something that I
would do for some half-fly, half-guy

Then he flapped his wings fast
and he did fly
then landed in my beef stew
I tried hard to shoo him away
thought that trick was really quite rude

[Instrumental break]

He said, "I need your help"
I told him, "Try somebody else"

That damn fly spoiled my lunch
that freak thing perched on all my meat
did not like that much
on my food saw that fly excrete

Said, "Man, I've had it with you
now you'd better move
say 'bye-bye'..."
But still that fly is in my face
I've sure had enough of that guy

Flies around my head
wish that he was dead
Told him to depart
He said, "Have a heart
it sucks being a fly
soon, I will probably die

'Cause spiders see me as lunch
much like you see beef stew
I need your help"
Again, I said, "Try somebody else"

"Go now, fly, please buzz off
why can't you just take a clue?
I don't want to help
I hate flies, so you go to Hell"

That damn fly spoiled my lunch
walked all over my food
He said, "F*ck yourself
and I'll see you down in Hell"
[out to fade]
Next time; Go out for lunch...

Right on track, a lot of zip in this...And I remember this old movie, too...in fact, I believe most of these originals, even though they lacked todays computer effects, were better made...

AFW - Thanks! I agree, I think more attention was paid to the ACTUAL stories back then...anyway, I saw the original Movie back in 1959 or 1960...I THINK at the Wiltern Theater here in Los Angeles...and it scared the CRAP out of me...I've seen it on TV, too...but I don't think this version has been shown in many, many years...at least not on Network. "The Fly" happens to be one movie where the re-make was really good, too, in my opinion (The one with Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis). The one scared the CRAP out of me even more than the original in some ways...it was just SO gruesome and graphic...yuck! But it was well done...

I dunno why...he became that fly...perhaps he'll die...

well, it was either that or "yeah, but he's a pretty fly (for a white guy)" - you choose - I loved the Goldblum/Davis version too Paul - esp. that gross maggot dream - 555
