Parody Song Title:

"Age of Asparagus/Vegetarians"

Parody Written by:

Michael McVey

The Lyrics

When Archie was in his seventh year
And Viking took pics of Mars
When "Convoy" was heard across the planet
And Elvis was still a star
This was the dawning of the Age of Asparagus
Age of Asparagus
Asparagus!
Asparagus!

Charlie's Angels and Colombo
Barney Miller's mumbo jumbo
Beethoven's Fifth by Walter Murphy,
Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley
Bicentennial celebration
And Stallone's vituperation
Asparagus!
Asparagus!

When Archie was in his seventh year
And Viking took pics of Mars
When "Convoy" was heard across the planet
And Manilow was still a star
This was the dawning of the age of Asparagus
Age of Asparagus
Asparagus!
Asparagus!
Asparagus!
Asparagus!

Ve-getarians (Oh, let 'em whine, c'mon)
Ve-getarians (Now everybody just ignore 'em)
Vege-tar-ians (Let the ground beef in)
Ve-getarians (Open up your mouth and let the ground beef in)
Ve-getarians (When you are hungry, let the beef in)
Vege-tar-ians (Got to open up your mouth and let the ground beef in)
Ve-getarians (Animals may have been mistreated)
Ve-getarians (But we need protein anyway)
Vege-tar-ians (Just open your mouth, and let the ground beef in)

Excellent subs, including the title, which I never would have thought of (I did have "Hilarious/Let the puns fly, man!", but scrapped the idea). The outro is a bit different from my copy, but I won't hold it against you - nice variation there too.

(SOTM) I'm sure a lot of us were toying around with this idea before you made it a reality, Mike. But considering that fact that I never liked vegetables much to begin with, I scrapped the idea. Needless to say, you really made this parody work... great title subs, TMGLTM, Who's Archie?, all in all a magnificent piece of writing. 455

(SOTM) Wow....raaaaandom. But you did a great job of it! VH1 should've played this on I Love The 70s! And Chris, I think he meant Archie Bunker of All In The Family.

(SOTMWC) That was actually very enticing, especially since I hate Asparagus. . .but just imagining it sung in that high angellic voice, got me cracking up. . .I would say this will be in my top 5, but you probably figured that since there are afterall 6 of us (5 me excluded) Good job though:)
