The Lyrics

Change is such a nebulous concept. I often confront people and say, given all of the "change" that has been effected or proposed this year, would you have ever, in your wildest imagination, predicted what has been happening over the last six months? It would have seemed hysterically funny (or just hysterical) had anyone suggested it. Unfortunately, many did just that, and I suppose we might as well recognize the humor in that irony now ... better late than never.
CHANGE

Change, well now they've got me locked up in change
And it ain’t the kind,
I thought it’d be

Whoa your change and hope
Gonna bankrupt me … yeah

Change, well I can’t take anymore of this change
I’ll speak my mind
‘cause I’m still free
Whoa, this change of yours
Won’t handcuff me, yeah

I wanna’ tell all you do-gooders
You’ve lost your mind
I’d love to kick your ….
But now you’ve got me tied up with this

Change … Obama’s got us hog-tied with change
But it ain’t the kind
He campaigned on
Whoa, our freedom, liberty
They are all but gone

You know that we tried to tell you
Those words sound sweet
You felt those tingles
And now we have to break from all this

Change … Obama’s got us locked up in change
But it ain’t the kind
We thought it’d be
Whoa, it’s hope and change
Suffocating me, Yeah

Change, hope and change

It’s so strange, hope and change
It’s deranged, been short-changed
(repeat and fade)

Love this golden oldie! Superb usage! Was going to vote 555, but make it 600, and keep the change -- just as I wish Obama would keep his "change" to himself.

@ TT - Thanks! I love the oldies too. Pocket change may be all we have left if we don't get with it! ;-)

@ FG - But no 40 years in the desert, I hope! :-D

Phil, I think you may have coined a new phrase. To repeat what someone else has already said, "You keep the change and I'll keep my liberty!"
