The Lyrics

Almost to 100. Oh yeah, this song first came out in 1959, but, as I found out when I wrote "Hockey Player 99" for Wayne Gretzky, there's no provision here for Fifties songs, the way there is for the decades since.
I took my talents down to Chucky G
you know the guy that we all love to see.
He's got a site that we all love really fine
and now my total is... Parody 99.

I tried to write about the Dixie Chicks
and Bush's drinking up through '86.
He looked at my work, and I think it made him whine.
He said, "Mike, be careful... with this number 99."

I bent down and turned around and typed at my board.
I said, "I'm gonna write one that'll get me big-scored."
My fingers were all typing, they were all in accord.
I held my nose, I closed my eyes... out of my gourd.

I didn't know if it was day or night.
The nasty comments deluged Amiright.
And when I lampooned Bush for the 37th time
they wondered why I wrote this... Parody 99.

(saxophone break)

I held my nose, I closed my eyes... out of my gourd.

I didn't know if it was day or night.
The nasty comments deluged Amiright.
And when I lampooned Bush for the 37th time
they wondered why I wrote this... Parody 99.
Parody 99.
Parody 99.
Parody 99.
(repeat 'til fade)
Actually, 39 of my first 99 took swipes at Bush. Whatever it takes.

Michael - Congratulations on 99 entertaining parodies and 999 insightful and "nasty" comments. It's hard to believe that you have written 60 parodies that ignored Bush.

Tone Def, I just looked at yours. Either you two have cloned brains or you have a "He's So Fine" suit on your hands.

I swear I didn't know about Tone-Def's version, though I have now seen it and given it all 4s.
