The Lyrics

It's been a week, and nobody's written one on this subject. I guess it's up to me. Now, what rhymes with "Throat"... not much that I can use... OK, what rhymes with "Felt"... good grief... come on, there's gotta be something...
Mark Felt:
Bob, you know I know much.
To the press I now throw much.
Justice depends on this touch.

Bob Woodward:
Oh, my contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.
Parking garage, I meet
Throat Deep.
There's danger, he hides
with the stuff he describes.
My contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.

Felt:
I know I'm risking death for it.
Nixon's crime, I deplore it.
Now you must go and report it.

Woodward:
And my contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.
Parking garage, I meet
Throat Deep.
There's danger, he hides
with the stuff he describes.
My contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.

Felt:
All I ever should become
is FBI's number one.
Bobby, believe me
Nixon deceives we
With Watergate he should go to hell.
You know darn well, but don't tell 'cause...

Bob, you know I know much.
To the press I now throw much.
Justice depends on this touch.

Woodward:
And my contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.
Parking garage, I meet
Throat Deep.
There's danger, he hides
with the stuff he describes.
My contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.

My contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.
Parking garage, I meet
Throat Deep.
My contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.
Parking garage, I meet
Throat Deep.
My contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.
Parking garage, I meet
Throat Deep.
My contact is guy who is
Throat Deep.
Parking garage, I meet
Throat Deep.
(repeat 'til fade)
For the record, I had David Gergen in the "Deep Throat Pool." When I first heard who it really was, I heard it wrong. "Who's Mark Phelps?" For a moment, I thought it was Peter Graves from "Mission: Impossible." But that was Jim Phelps. So that theory self-destructed in five seconds. And don't you love how all these Nixon people who went to jail for the crimes Deep Throat exposed -- not to mention Pat Buchanan, who's never been implicated in Watergate -- still call Felt a villain and Nixon a hero? Where is Georgie Bush's "Deep Throat"?

Some with certain political persuasions, might say Nix on this...but, I like it...

I had William Casey, so I was out a few years ago. Just hoped it was going to be Rhenquist or King George I. The whole thing was a bit anti-climatic to me - in the end it was just one fascist ratting out another because he was passed over for a job. If you believe Watergate was only a third rate burglary then you believe Bush didn't steal the election, the war in Iraq is just and Ronald Reagan single-handedly defeated communism. Hopefully, this outcome will show the necessity of anonymous sources and the obligation of a free press to check government. Oh, nice job Michael.

I figured you Americans would be all over this subject so I refrained from trying to do "Felter-Skelter" to the obvious 60s classic... :-)

the amazing thing is, I read the news and my first thoughts were "Michaal Pacholek parody coming up" - thanks for not disappointing, MP - he is surely a hero of yours, yes? - nicely done - 555

I guess what I meant to say yesterday evening was that I expected you Americans to be all over this subject with references to supporting and unsupporting actors unknown to me, being only 9 years old back in 1974, and locally here the Felt story not being bigger than two-three days in the foreign news sections. I’m still kinda expecting Spaff to deliver “50 ways to prope a deep throat” though. (And now that I’m starting to obsess over the subject I’ll probably have to write something about Nixon myself anyway, from what little knowledge I do have if nothing else). :-)
