The Lyrics

For those of you who aren't aware of our UK politics, a potted history: The UK Independence Party, a right-wing pressure group whose sole raison d'etre is to get the UK out of the EU, was given a pre-election fillip when the media-friendly egomaniac Robert Kilroy-Silk decided to join them - because he'd previously been a MP and daytime TV host (on a dire show, called "Kilroy", surprisingly enough), he undoubtedly helped them sign up a few thousand more members and get a load more votes. But...After the UKIP election success, it all kind of went to his head (which was big enough in the first place), and he started saying fairly nasty things about the UKIP leadership. They canvassed their consituency chairmen, who unsurprisingly backed the existing leader overwhelmingly... so there is just one thing left for an egocentric wannabe to do: go away and sulk...
If I cannot lead the party then I'll go,
"Rank and file" just ain't enough for my ego
I didn't join because
I believe in the cause
Wanna be back on TV and radio

Got elected as a new Euro-MP
Though I say that Europe's where we should not be
Call me a hypocrite
But I don't give a s***
Expenses are good, so's the salary

Now it's time to say goodbye
U.K.I.P.
Need a leader? I'll apply
U.K.I.P. but...

If I cannot lead the party then I'll go,
So I'll leave you with your caballistic show,
It really gets my goat
There's no "one man, one vote"
'Cause they all would vote for me, and that you know

Maybe I'll come back in time
U.K.I.P.
When the party can be mine
U.K.I.P.

I'm not going to vote the party way
But what's the point? They don't vote anyway
But now I've had enough
I'll go off in a huff
But the world is going to hear from me again

Good one Phil, and also one of my fave early under-rated Beatles tunes for the OS!
