"Let It Be"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Cuppa Tea"

Parody Written by:

Kristof Robertson

The Lyrics

A tribute to the long-standing belief in Britain that, whatever life throws at you, a cup of Earl Gray will help you get through! NB: Tetley and PG (Tips) are UK tea brands.
When I find myself without a girlfriend
She has just walked out on me
Think I'll make myself a...cuppa tea
And in my boss's office
He is speaking of redundancy
I won't hit the bottle...I'll have tea

Cuppa tea, cuppa tea
That's for me, milk and three
Assam anaesthetic...cuppa tea

And when the po-lice tell me that a
Thief has trashed my Ferrari
Though I'm numb I'll offer....them some tea
Through all my trials and tribulations
One thing I can guarantee
You will always find me...drinking tea

Cuppa tea, cuppa tea
From Tetley, or PG
Please don't give me herbal
Makes me pee

Forget about narcotics
Charley, speed, hashish or even "E"
Nothing makes me happy...like my tea
I wake up, get the kettle boiling
Have some Corn Flakes, yessiree!
I can take the world on...after tea

Wounded knee, STD
Lost my key, dog's got flea
Have a cup, remember...
Cest la Vie!!!

And when some naff, pedantic writer
Shows a missed apostrophe
Better have another cup o' tea (c'est la vie)

:-) Sorry, that was a cheap pot-shot, Kristof...
Kristof Robertson - June 30, 2004 - Report this comment
Naff? Pedantic? Harsh words, Mr Alexander. :-) I'll give you the missing apostrophe for the french, but in Oz, it's always "Cuppa"...thanks for the vote, anyway.
John Jenkins - June 30, 2004 - Report this comment
Very good parody, Kristof. Is it tea that gives Brits their stiff upper lips?
Royce Miller - June 30, 2004 - Report this comment

Ashkicksass - June 30, 2004 - Report this comment
I've always wondered about the Brits and their tea. I just figured if they scalded their mouths often enough it would keep then from being able to taste their awful food! Fabulous job!
Arwen - June 30, 2004 - Report this comment
LOL, Ashkicksass!
Phil Alexander - June 30, 2004 - Report this comment
Yes, Kristof, it was the one in French to which I was referring... "cuppa" is perfectly acceptable, I just didn't write it.
Kristof Robertson - June 30, 2004 - Report this comment
OOh Ash, I see I'm gonna have to defend my adopted country (and don't you encourage her, Miss elf..) :-) Fine words coming from a citizen of a nation that gave the world cheese in a can!! Thanks for the vote, anyway ;-)
Ashkicksass - June 30, 2004 - Report this comment
Actually, cheese in a can comes from Australia!

Nah, not enough caffeine in whiskey. ;) Seriously, I rarely drink, but on those extremely rare occasions when I do, I like vodka.

Not bad, didn't have me falling off my chair laughing though. Well written, good pacing...decent parody.

(SOTM) My vote stands.....it's still delightful!
EmiLoca - July 12, 2004 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Pretty darn funny, Saint Kristof. I think what made it funny was how similar the original song and the parody are in message (you know, don't give up and such), and yet, how much more funny yours is. 5's, and I slap myself for missing this one.
Spaff.com - July 17, 2004 - Report this comment
As a Utahn, I must ask: "Tea"? What is this "tea" of which you speak?

Love yer stuff, Fotsirk. Fave lines: "Please don't give me herbal..."

(SOTM) Tea-riffic, a truly soothing parody. 5-4-5 Ashkicksass: With me in the country, is it any surprise that Australia makes cheese- in-a-can? Then again, after reading Melhi's 'Can' parody, that doesn't sound so tasty...
Claude Prez - July 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Very good; "makes me pee" was particularly funny.
