Feng shui (pronounced "fung schway") is the practice of configuring structures to maximize their internal harmony. California State Assembly Member Leland Yee has introduced legislation which would have the California Building Standards Commission adopt building standards that promote feng shui.
Legislate

That's right, Rice Cube - I read all 20,000+ of them looking for "Feng Shui" - man, was that tedious. ;-D LOL Then I gave up on that approach and used the "Search" function, looking for "Feng Shui" in any lyric text.

John J - Clever job. Gee, it's almost too bad it isn't pronounced "Shuey", I think a great parody could be made on "Feng Shui" using "Louie, Louie" as the original song if it were - "Feng Shuey, Shuey, oh baby, put that near the door..."

Thanks for all of the votes and comments, Guy, JD, Claude, Rice Cube, Paul, Meriadoc, Grace, and Rod. Johnny D, thanks for the trivia. With 20,000 parodies, it is difficult to be first to mention anything.

Very good point, Grace. The intent of the parody was not to criticize feng shui, which seems to have a logical, practical element as well as a supernatural, unexplainable element. But, as many of the comments hinted, we Californians have problems with budget deficits, crime, immigration, education, and an excessive regulatory burden that drives businesses out of the state, and this legislator thinks that it is appropriate to earn his salary by passing feng shui regulations.

Rod, I appreciate your comment, but I happen to be one of the people who finds the f-dud to be the most impotent word in the English language.

About the F-word, there's more to its value as a way to "shock and awe"than in just saying it-you gotta give it the proper timing and space to create the desired effect. In the movie "Full Metal Jacket",that drill seargeant first used it to discipline a private who interupted his introduction speech,slugging said private in the stomach immediately afterward. It was a pretty good use of the F-word. On the other hand,in the movie "Undefeated", the jailed boxing promoter,played by Peter Falk,TOTALLY screws up any impact the f-word would've had by using it something like TWENTY times in the same line!(Mr. Falk REALLY should've called Joe Pesci for tips on bringing the F-word to life !) With that outta the way,I would like to---huh?,Feng shui ? THAT'S the F-word? OH!,this parody? Well, ummm-let's see,classic Beatles style,kept to the spirit of the original song while yet maintaining a consistant level of humor,I'll give it three "F's",I mean three "fives"

The TP comments remind me of "Gone with the Wind," which was filmed 65 years ago. The word "damn" was strategically used once in the movie - in Rhett Butler's last line - which made for a very strong finish. We've come a long way in 65 years.
