The Lyrics

Since a strong case of writer's block is stopping me from parodying 'With a Little Help from my Friends' at the current late hour, enjoy this prelude. I guess it's kind of a public service announcement too.
He was 40 and his hair was gray
And he didn't have a lot to say
He's been looking at me for a while
Oh I hope he's not a pedophile
The hubcap is all rusted through
The van smells like a rotting shoe
Stranger in the only unmarked van

Stranger in the only unmarked van
He's looking out the back window
Stranger in the only unmarked van
What's in that van I'd like to know
Stranger in the only, stranger in the only
Stranger in the only unmarked van

I don't think he should be here
He's giving me a chill
Don't like this guy, he's really grim
He'd like to take me home with him
He'd love to take me home

He's got lots a candy don't ya know
And toys in there he told me so
But that's one place that I don't belong
And that's why I live to sing the song
My parents didn't have a clue
So glad they taught me well and true
Stranger in the only unmarked van

9-1-1

Well-crafted. Good pacing, 5. Serious topic but cleverness of wordplay overcomes grimness, How Funny = 5. Overall, clever parody, entertaining wordplay, strong message, 5.

Thanks Johnny

By the way, out of all the regular top ten authors on the site, you put by far the most effort into making sure that newer authors are appreciated. Thanks again.

Excellent work, 2nz...all 5s from me...even though it is a pretty creepy topic! I'd also like to agree with your comment on Johnny D...seriously...if he hadn't reacted so positively to the first Frodo parody I submitted, I probably wouldn't have continued submitting. He deserves an appreciation week for his outstanding appreciation! =)

Thanks Arwen. The only things that stand in the way are his vote count and his many top ten appearances. If he wasn't getting attention already, he'd definitely deserve it.

So Michael Jackson and a priest walk into a bar...

LOL...sorry, 2nz...but you have to admit that was funny...

Couldn't resist could ya, Claude? Thanks man.

Difficult parody subject, but good nonetheless

Thanks Laurence.

....and the priest says, "Bless me! Michael, have you sinned?" Good work, 2nz, with a difficult and very important subject. d;:^)

Thanks Bob. I haven't seen you around in a while.

2nz - I was gonna grade it down a point on "Funny", then I thought, "Who the hell am I to be so picky about taste, I just posted one the other day with the protagonist's brains splattered all over the place and dying". Anyway, child molester's aren't funny but this parody is, and that's what I graded it on. 5-5-5 - Hope your writer's block gets cured so we can see more of your stuff. I've had a little brain clog myself going on but it's probably more from lack of turmoil/conflict while on vacation. Had to spew out one number on a sore subject that I knew hardly anyone would vote on. I had it on the back burner awhile 'cause I needed to fact-check before spouting. Maybe I'll get off the dime now. Breakin' out the "mental floss" before bed tonight, somethin' might come loose. Well, 'nite all...later...

Thanks Paul, good luck with that mental floss. I need better sources for fact checking, and if you've seen my Elvis parody, then you know what I mean. Good luck with that mental floss.

The title makes one think of the original line, which I like a lot -- clever... and creepy, Father Michael... um, 2nz!
2nz - January 20, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks Mari, or MAD, whichever you prefer. I've learned something today: many people will turn up to check out a Beatles parody, not to mention one off of Abby Road.

Hehehe, this would be so wrong if it weren't so funny.
