The Lyrics

The day dawns, my mind’s gone
Each day is just the same in this dementia fog
When the World no longer needs you

She wakes up, she makes up
She spins around the Sun with monotonous ease
And no longer needs you

And in my eyes, you see nothing
No sign of life behind the tears
Cried for no one
A life through all these wasted years

I get dressed, I get fed
Can’t remember full of much dread
Monotony abounds here
Nothing here to do

And in my eyes, you see nothing
No sign of life behind the tears
Cried for no one
A life through all these wasted years

I stay home, can’t go out
She says that long ago she knew someone
But now he's gone, she doesn't need him

The day dawns, my mind’s gone
There will be times when all the things she said will fill my head
But I won’t remember

And in my eyes, you see nothing
No sign of life behind the tears
Cried for no one
A life through all these wasted years

Probably the least appreciated of the Beatles songs. John Lennon, who was Paul's severest critic, said this was a very sweet song; one of Paul's best. And you caught the tone of sadness in the song really well.
