The Lyrics

Tribute to Alex DeLarge, protagonist of the novel "A Clockwork Orange" Words in quotes are from the "nadsat" lingo adopted by the juvenile delinquents in the novel. These words are mostly derived from Russian. The meaning of most can be taken from context. OTOH -- "Byez oom" .. go crazy .... smeck -- laugh ... Peet -- drink
Hey Droog, dont make us glad
Take a faux dong, and make it batter
Remember, you used your "nozh" on poor Dim
This will make him
A little ... bitter

Hey Droog, do be afraid
There's a reason that home's familiar
The minute he starts to play Ludwig Van
That trips his plan
To make you .. snuff it

And anytime you feel that pain
Hey Droog, refrain
Dont shatter your "mozg" upon that sidewalk
For well you know that it's a "gloop"
Who plays the dupe
By getting "tolchocked" by Dim's milk bottle

Hey Droog, you let Delt down
You've been spat on, now off to Staja
The minute you let them mess with your head
That's when you'll dread
To in and .. out her

So "smeck" it off and "peet" it in
Hey Droog, begin
You're waiting to "groam" Bill in the "yarbles"
And dont you know that you're all new
Hey Droog .. "Byez oom"
The "mol'ko" you need is at "Korovo"

Hey Droog, dont make them glad
Take a dance song, and make it brutal
The minute you let them fix up your head
Then you'll thank Fred
For making it ....

Horror, horror, horror, horror, horror, horror ....... SHOW!

Na na na naa .. NA NA NA NAA! .. NA NA NA NAA! Hey Droog
Na na na naa .. NA NA NA NAA! .. NA NA NA NAA! Эй Друг*

(Repeat "na na na na" line for the duration of Alex's stay in the ICU )
*Hey Droog in Russian, just for funsies ....... Fred is the name of the Minister of Interior who helped Alex recover in order to take the heat off of his brutal reconditioning program which drove Alex to attempt suicide

Just sitting here sipping a milk-plus, enjoying a bit of the ultra-funnyness. Now Let's get things nice & sparkling clear - 5/5/5.

Bowie used some Nadsat lingo on his last album. Very weird. Liked what you did with it here (although not a favorite in my Kubrick viewing list...)

Nadsat is a combination of "nad" (Russian for over) and -tsat, a contraction of "dyesyet", which is Russian for ten. So the suffx "-nadsat" is equivalent to the English suffix "-teen" as in fourteen. I studied Russian in college so the lingo isn't odd or off putting to me. In fact the effect is absolutely hilarious, in a dark humor kind of way

I can see a lot of cleverness here, but I'm not that well acquainted with the "Nadsat" so that bogged me down during the read.. But I applaud the conceptual originality.

I can't take full credit for the concept, Paul. A very gifted artist who went by the name "Artistic Covers" did a great parody of a Beatles album cover where he subbed Alex and his three droogs for the four mop topped lads. And I told him, "I can definitely do a song parody of that."

Way back in the last decade I did a parody where I had Crosby, Stills, & Nash sort of act like the "Three Stooges" altho not exactly. I love CSN, but in the early-to-mid 70's they did a lot of stooge-like stuff, particullarly Crosby.
