Original Song Title:

"Let It Be"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Let 'Em Bleed"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

They're always there in times of trouble
To perform the dirty deeds
Cops and vigilantes agree:
Let 'em bleed

Callahan is a hardass
71 his radio ID
Aims his .44 Magnum
Let 'em bleed

(Chorus)
Let 'em bleed, let 'em bleed, let 'em bleed, let 'em bleed
Forget life in prison
Let 'em bleed

Riggs keeps it simple
Likes it too risky
Violence is the answer
Let 'em bleed

Kersey lamented his departed
Armed himself and prowled the streets
Judge, Jury, Executioner
Let 'em bleed

(Chorus) [x3]

Cops and vigilantes
Believe in true justice, not mercy
Killing off the psychos
Let 'em bleed

Sometimes it gets confusing
Life and liberty
Justice system's broken
So let 'em bleed

(Chorus) [x3]

Have you seen the new Death Wish with Willis? Not bad stepping into Bronson's shoes after all these years. 5's

Saw it. Not bad, but the film couldn't capture the raw emotions of the original not to mention Bronson's performance. Willis had a few good one-liners though and a new role to play as doctor vs architect. I gave it ****

In the Brian Garfield novel, the protagonist, Paul Benjamin was an accountant. The director wanted Dustin Hoffman for the part later played by Charles Bronson in four sequels of declining quality. A friend saw the remake and liked it. I'll wait and buy it from Amazon, cheaper than going to the movies around here. I'd like to see someone film the original book. The original movie was not too far off. As a profession, an architect's work is easier to depict on the screen and was used to mark the contrast between crowded, dangerous New York City and the wide open spaces.
