Makes me wonder why Yakovlev, Sukhoi, and the MiG gang weren't selected! Question: why don't we see too many large Russian aircraft? Answer: so many Ilyushins!
Rob Arndt - December 21, 2017 - Report this comment
MiG was surpassed by Sukhoi concerning fighters and strike aircraft while the Yak 141 supersonic VTOL failed. The Russians, however, have the largest cargo aircraft and more heavy lift capability. They have three types of Doomsday planes: Tu-80, Tu-124SR, and Il-96-300PU. They are fitted with EMP hardened electronics, SARs, and in some cases both an escape pod and anti-missile laser defense. Su-30SMs also fly with them. The Su-57 will probably be next for protection. MiG is back with the MiG 41 Foxhunter, a Mach 4+ interceptor and the MiG Skat UCAV is still alive.
