The Lyrics

It seems that 'Jack' has a lot to answer for when it comes to his part in various nursery rhymes! Original song on YouTube

Drew into a corner seat for holiday
Sittin’ with a Christmas pie
Pulled a plum with soggy thumb and said with glee
“What a boy so good am I!”
That Jack in a slew nurse’ verse are
To play with food’s yucky, it are, boy
Jack in a slew nurse’ verse are

Skinny guy named Sprat he’d hardly touch the fat
Save for goodwife, and take lean
Leave it to that duo to attack that plate
Couple gone and licked it clean
That Jack in a slew nurse’ verse are
Apportionment’s stuck in your craw, guys
Jack in a slew nurse’
Jack in a slew nurse’
Jack in a slew nurse’ verse are

Well then Jack and Jill, they went up the hill
Their water chore defined
Then Jack fell down, broke crown - such a clout
And Jilly tumbled, she was humbled, bounce bounce bounced on her behind

That Jack in a slew nurse’ verse are
He’s usually punky, that thar boy
Jack in a slew nurse’ verse are

Well then Jack be nimble and Jack be quick
Believe this rhyme’s unkind
And Jack! Watch out for that candlestick!
That flame is licking, lick lick licking, lick lick licking your behind!

Oh, sowing corn are farmers
Maidens: down in mouth
Jacky’s house had cock in morn
Malt’s the reason cat ate rat that ventured out
Milked a cow with crumpled horn

That Jack in a slew nurse’ verse are
Hey, he’s running amok; he’s a star: boy
Jack in a slew nurse’ verse are

Oh quite some tales he’s spun, eh?

That Jack!

Slightly tortuous title squeeze, but you're right: Jack does get everywhere. Red Ant will probably agree. :-)

Is Merry & Pippin a single person or a duo?

Apparently you do know Jack. The twisted title alone (of which I've yet to say or sing correctly) is worth at least 5 blackbirds.

Thank you Phil. The apostrophe is our friend.

Brad - Sometimes we aren't sure, but there are definitely two of us when we are disagreeing. :)

Thank you Warren. We probably won't consider recording it heh heh.
