The Lyrics

Can it be? Rutgers University is finally going to a bowl game? (The only time before, in 1978, they made up their own bowl, the Garden State Bowl, and failed to sell out the Meadowlands -- or beat Arizona State, for that matter.)
I've been a Scarlet Knight
a forever underdog.
I've been a Scarlet Knight
Never prince, always a frog.
But now I'm winning some games.
Unloading so many shames!
You know I feel all right!

You know we work each play
to get a touchdown and the lead.
And it's worth it just to hear you say
we've got some good press clips to read.
So we get in the end zone.
We'll really changing our tone.
You know, we feel okay.

When we're home
everything seems to be right.
On the road
finally we've learned to fight!
Fight!
Yeah!

I've been a Scarlet Knight
a forever underdog.
I've been a Scarlet Knight
Never prince, always a frog.
But now I'm winning some games.
Unloading so many shames!
You know I feel all right!
Wow!

(instrumental break)

So we get in the end zone.
We'll really changing our tone.
You know, we feel okay.

When we're home
everything seems to be right.
On the road
finally we've learned to fight!
Fight!
Yeah!

I've been a Scarlet Knight
a forever underdog.
I've been a Scarlet Knight
Never prince, always a frog.
But now I'm winning some games.
Unloading so many shames!
You know I feel all right!
You know I feel all right!
You know I feel all right!
You know what would be a nice matchup? Rutgers vs. Wyoming. We could have it at Mordor Field and call it the Fantasy Bowl. But I'm not sure the conference tie-ins will allow that matchup.

Good parody Michael, maybe one to "Scarborough Fair" called "Scarlet Knight's Fared"?

From someone who lives just south of Rt. 27...go Scarlet Knights! 555

"Scarborough Fair" is a sad song, Ant, so I'm hoping to avoid it. And I've already done "It's Still Sugar Bowl to Me," so that's out. Let's see... "Knights in bright Scarlet, never lead at the end, pass intercepted, never meaning to send..." No, don't want THAT either...

As a University of Southern California graduate, it is difficult for me to relate to this situation, but very well expressed, MP, particularly the frog lines.
Michael Pacholek - November 01, 2005 - Report this comment
Difficult for you to relate, John? Then switch the sport to basketball and face west. (As in UCLA.) Having said that, can you imagine how different things would be if New Brunswick native Dwayne Jarrett had stayed home instead of going to Troy? I've heard of "Traveler," but that was ridiculous.
John Jenkins - November 02, 2005 - Report this comment
If Dwayne Jarrett had stayed home, he would not have played on two (possibly three) national championship teams, he wouldn't have Matt Leinart passing to him, and he wouldn't have caught 13 touchdown passes in 2004 and 13 more so far this season.

South Florida 45, Rutgers 31. Is there a Michael Pacholek jinx that's as dangerous as the Sports Illustrated jinx?
