Parody Song Title:

"The Ballad of the War Protestors"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

"Finks" is plural of "fink," not somebody's name. "The wife," like the President, and his reasons for going to war, is fictional -- in each case, unfortunately. And if I keep writing this stuff, well, all three Dixie Chicks are married, so I guess I'm stuck. For now.
Sitting there in front of the TV
watching them take potshots at France.
The man said "Attack! Just go to war with Iraq!"
They never gave diplomacy a real chance.
John, you know it ain't easy.
Sure wasn't easy for you.
The way things are going
they'll blow me away too.

Colin Powell lied at the U.N.
'bout all the weapons held by Hussein.
Tony Blair called to say,
"You can make it OK,
we'll have the summit in the Azores near Spain."
John, you know it ain't easy.
Sure wasn't easy for you.
The way things are going
they'll blow me away too.

Dixie Chicks were talkin' in London
the critics of those girls will not cease.
The right-wingers said,
"Why don't you just go to bed?
You know nobody wants to hear about peace!"
John, you know it ain't easy.
Sure wasn't easy for you.
The way things are going
they'll blow me away too.

Threw away our money for a rainy day
treating billionaires like charity.
Last night the wife said,
"Rich guys, when they're dead
they'll have to do explaining for their souls!
Finks!"

Watching Michael Moore at the Oscars
fictitious Prez, he started to gag.
The newspapers said,
"That fatso's sick in the head!
And he's a major-league disgrace to the Flag!"
John, you know it ain't easy.
Sure wasn't easy for you.
The way things are going
they'll blow me away too.

Looking out at Kerry and Graham
Lieberman, John Edwards and Dean.
The men from the press
said, "We've gotta confess:
Bush says we gotta treat you boys really mean!"
John! You know it ain't easy.
Sure wasn't easy for you.
The way things are going
they'll blow me away too.
The way things are going
they'll blow me away too!

Michael, another great parody that the far right minority (and they ARE a minority) here will try to sabotage. Oops, that's a French word...they'll have to sabofree your song. How'd you like the Dems. debate? One thing you mentioned Lieberman in your song...will someone please tell me the difference between him and Bush? Anyway I hope Kerry wins. Hey just got an idea for a parody, see you.

Adam, this far right minority (minoritist?) gave it a 5-4-5. Why anyone would want to 'sabotage' a well-written parody for political reasons is beyond me. If it had really offended me (which it didn't), I would have simply refrained from voting on it. End of tirade! :-D Good job Michael.

Satire is "Bad, Bad Georgie Bush." Real anger is "Eve of Disgustion." Kudos for Meria for knowing "what's up, doc," and for knowing the difference between satire and real anger. After all, it's not like I said I was optimistic about the Dems, and YOU try rhyming anything with "Kucinich." He's so weak, like Popeye he should eat spinach. Adam asks what's the difference between Lieberman and Bush? Lieberman stops working at sundown Friday for 24 hours. Bush works about 24 hours a week. (That's satire.) And the only lie Lieberman's ever told is "I'm a Democrat." (That's some implied real anger.) If I could write a Lieberman song without sounding like I'm making fun of his religion, I'd do it (and being 1/4 Jewish, I don't wanna cross, or so to speak, that line). Stay tuned...

Michael, its a good parody, Ill give you that, but I have a question for Adam....Far right minority? I told consider myself FAR right, but I didnt have a problem with this song....But back to my actual question, are you implying that there are more people on the FAR left here? IMO, I think that most of the people here are about middle of the road....none of us really go all the way on one side.....and to answer your question....Lieberman is not a regsistered republican, Bush is, but aside from that they dont have that many differences....I mean both support the war in Iraq, both supported the war on terrorism, and I think, but im not sure, that Lieberman supported Bush's tax cut.....anyway, I already know that Kerry's gonna be the dems canditate, but he wont win...not by a long shot.....(and Lieberman wont win the primary just because of prejudice to jews...as we remember, that hurt Gore a bit in the 2000 election)

That should be : I DONT consider myself FAR right

I agree with Meriadoc's comments and vote (5-4-5). It is my perception that there are similar numbers of Amiright parodies and writers slanted to the right and to the left. Unfortunately, there also seem to be "one guys" on both sides who apparently cannot express themselves and resort to giving bad votes instead. This parody deserves better than the votes it has gotten so far.

I will go further 5-5-5. As I was reading this I was wondering to myself what comments would be here. What is this crap re sabotage? I think some people should have a look at the meaning of the term parody. I am on record as saying an individual's politics do not concern me. This was a very well written, impressively paced and funny parody. It is irrelevant to me whether the 'target' is George Bush, war protestors or the cheif accountant at the egg marketing board. This issue is the qualtity of the parody. Grrr! Keep it up Michael, I laughed at this. The Dixie Chick part of the intro made me laugh equally as much!

Michael - this one must rate as my favourite of your parodies: it's very good satire, not laugh-out-loud funny, but with a goodly amount of wit, and excellent use of the original song.

I just saw this one - better late than never (speaking from the far left, of course). 5-5-5 on a tough (but fun) song to write to. Nice job.
