The Lyrics

The originally planned ending to Silence of the Lambs included a much longer phone call between Lecter and Starling. It was cut because studio executives thought the song reduced the impact of the scene
I see Crawford, my old friend
Thought maybe that my help, I'd lend
Though he's too busy with his briefings,
Sent a rookie, now I'm seething
And the mission, to find what's inside my brain
Seems in vain
Clarice, you've found me silent

Please come now closer to my cell
And sit while a tale I tell
When the census taker tried me
I ate his liver with some chianti
And the nurse that I bit on the face one starry night
Got quite a fright
And now they lay in silence

So now you ask me to tell more
Though Buffalo Bill's such a bore
Well then, you I'll not be keeping
Within yourself you should be seeking
Maybe something long discarded still is there
As no one cared
They left it there in silence

"Time", said I, "For you to show
Goodwill it's time that I know
There's a memory that haunts you
Voices of the lambs now taunt you"
And so now, I ask you please do tell
I should know
How the lambs were silenced

Now the girl he took you saved
And the headlines you have made
Now to you I give a warning
I got on a plane this morning
I've decided, that I'll have an old friend
For dinner when I end this call
Now I'll go to maul
And leave you with a phone in silence
This is reposted from yesterday after I realised the originally posted version was the wrong one. D'oh!
