Parody Song Title:

The Lyrics

A lot of parodies of this song, but nobody's tried this title yet. I haven't done this song yet, either, which is surprising, since, when Republicans are in charge, it's our real national anthem. And yet, it requires that I treat noted right-wing actor Charlton Heston as a hero. What's stranger is, I've never seen the movie. But the ending is familiar: "Soylent Green" is made out of Charles Foster Kane's childhood sled.
Hello, Marty, my old friend.
We're eating here where they serve man.
Because this stuff that we're digestin'
is investigated by Heston.
And the vision that it's planted in our brain
brings us pain
within the sound of soylence.

In restless world, too many folks.
On us, they played this cruel joke.
'Neath the halo of a heat lamp
cooked up in this film, it's very camp
and some eyes were stabbed by the flash of that laser light
that split them tight
and touched the sound of soylence.

And in that laser light I saw
ten thousand people, maybe more.
People yesterday who were starving.
Now they're people that we are carving.
And we're singing songs of why we should be scared
but no one dared
disturb the sound of soylence.

"Fools!" said Heston, he would know.
His ham reputation grows.
"Hear my words that I might teach you!
Here's a truth and it must reach you!"
But his words like soylent raindrops fell

and echoed in the wells of soylence.

And the people bowed and prayed
in this world that Dubya might have made.
And Heston fleshed out his warning
to the world that might be borning
and Heston said,
"Soylent Green is made of people!"
Listen to this hero's calls!
But still it falls
in whispers
in the sound

of soylence...

I haven't ever seen the movie either, Mr. Pacholek...but it's quite impressive that you worked in a GWB jab...=) I've tried to work Vin Diesel praises into my non-related parodies...but it just doesn't work. 5s...

Couldn't quite grasp all the humor in this one Michael, nor do I know the movie.545.

Sorry, Charlie, but only the best-tasting crooners get to be Soylent.

Wow, I can't beleive how many people have never seen Soylent Green. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's being repressed, but I've noticed it's kind of hard to come by these days on cable. If you don't know how it ends beforehand, it's a great movie experience. (kind of like The 6th sense). 555 on the parody. (I actually brain-stormed a while back, trying to come up with a Soylent Green related parody, came up dry)

Great title, idea, and parody...I actually have an old video disc of this movie..I guess you might call it sort of an early, "Soylents of The Lambs"

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, and combinations thereof. Arwen: I've thought of writing a parody about yuh boy Vinnie, but there aren't a whole lot of words that rhyme with "Diesel." Though "weasel" comes to mind. Hmmmm... "Come on, baby, Pacifier..." Ant: It only works if you know the ending, which is well-known enough even if you haven't seen it. Johnny: It took me a few hours to get that one. I knew there was something fishy about you. Patrick: I see dead people, but then, I'm a history buff. AFW: As a matter of fact, I was trying to work "chianti" into a title, but nothing's come of it yet.

I've been trying to write "The Sounds of Soylents" for years. You did it, and much better than what I've come up with. I'm green with envy ;-) 555

I have a half assed skit under the working name "Green Soylent" somewhere, based on Pet Shop Boys' small hit "Flamboyant" from last year. I didn't get it to work out, and even old PSB hits gets a surprisingly high number of DKTOSs here, so I basically put it in the drawer when the song had had it's month of massive local airplay. BTW; 5s.

I've not seen the film, but first read the book (Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison) many, many years ago. Super parody, Michael.
