The Lyrics

This is about a 1978 Dodge Magnum that is located in an abandoned junkyard in a less-than-desirable semi-industrial area of Eugene, Oregon. I fielded an attempt to purchase the car with the intent of restoration, but apparently the divine forces had other ideas. Yes, it is the same car that "Me and You and A Junked-Out Dodge is written about. A cast-iron 727 is an automatic transmission used behind AMC and Chrysler V-8s.
'78 Dodge Magnum, you're really burnin' oil
Dual quads, a cast-iron 727, and a big-block Dodge
Watch the needle go from Full to E, listen to the 8-track
Come on, turn it up, listen to the BeeGees
'78 Magnum, oxidized brown paint, cracked landau top, beat-up '78 Dodge Magnum XE

You ought to see it take on a tuner Honda hatchback or a 300C
Totally thrashed 400 V-8, it's got speed and it's out of style
Beats the tuners and the stockers, each and every time

(Repeat first five lines)

Gotta save all my money, buy gas and Delo Oil
Flashback to the late 1970s
I'll be the grooviest dude around
Hey, Honda Boy, I'll show you my taillights

(Repeat first five lines again)
(Note: Darrell Wilhelm does not endorse or approve of street racing in any form whatsoever, and does not approve of altering small foreign-built compact cars to sound like a Cuisinart full of buckshot and putting ugly spoilers and weird wheels on them.)
