The Lyrics

Dignified..labs are nota midi to the song...http://www.team-ict.com/midi/21/21.shtml
Black Labrador your drooling lands
Amidst the company.
And like some wagging, crusty sow
You reek with pungency.
I see your blackened furry breast
"Has long since lost it's sheen"
But in your happy face,
Care not that shine cannot be seen.

And though I know your stink you don't mind,
A dog show my fate is resigned.

Black Labrador your posture fits
Upon these open fields.
And in your dusty boneyard now,
There stand you with your feed.
And though you're cool and trusting played,
Trust not been broken still.
You are unwashed you do not pace,
The chase is all your thrill.

And though I know your stink you don't mind,
A dog show my fate is resigned.
And though I know your stink you don't mind,
A dog show my fate is resigned.

Black Labrador you're in your prime,
I must say you're select.
And though I came a-funnin' you,
My sleeve now is all wet,
Because the drool began to fall,
And let me say doh! , had a ball.
And though you came with tail held high
You are too eager, see the eyes.

And though I know your stink you don't mind,
A dog show my fate is resigned.
And though I know your stink you don't mind,
A dog show my fate is resigned.

Adagio, Excellent job! Great imagery. 5-5-5. YES, I LIVE! (barely, at some points), Knee 98% better and sinus abscess 95% reduced and not painful (slight tenderness still in a couple places). Tried to watch LOTR 1st installment yesterday but my Visual Media attention span was even lower than usual due to infection-related fatigue (got to 20 minute mark). Figured I would try again today. Hope to finish my "CSN, The Thumb Album" Parody Project today and submit the last installment tonight. I don't know if ChuckyG will be posting new entries or not on Saturday. Got some "building inspection" going on Saturday (they are in process of selling this place) so I suppose I should pick up all the parody print-outs, and scraps of parody idea notes and puns, etc., laying around the place and put them in a folder or box or something. After all, I wouldn't want the new owners to get the impression I actually live the way I do...
Adagio - March 26, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Paul. Have you noticed that people that have nothing to do with parodies, computers, writing, etc. think that working notes that are needed are a mess when in actuality they are all in their place according to the owner?
Paul Robinson - March 26, 2004 - Report this comment
Adagio, Well, yes I have as a matter-of-fact. They have no conception of the inner intracacies of the truly organized parody writer's mind....(hyuck)...By the way, if you are unsuccessful in the hunt for a used copy of that CSN album and want to go that way perhaps something could be worked out to get you mine. I think I am ready to upgrade to a new Remastered version soon, anyway. Let me know if you are interested. You can post here or e-mail direct to: lol...

Adagio, Oops, I think I unintentionally violated a site rule there, posting my e-mail (I see they pulled it) in relation to that used CD... didn't mean to, sorry Web-folks, my apologies...anyway, not looking for money, that's not an issue...
Adagio - March 26, 2004 - Report this comment
Paul, I'm still looking into the music stores here. There are still a lot that I haven't looked at. Since when has e-mail been pulled? Or was this in connection with the CD?

funny one......5s

My, my my Pat, your writing has gone to the dogs on this one and I'm howling. Nice parody about a nice pet. The wet sleeve line is just so Labrador. Well done.
Paul Robinson - March 26, 2004 - Report this comment
Adagio, Yes, in my 2:03 pm comment I mentioned my e-mail address should you not be able to find said CD and wish to get my used copy. When I buy a new copy (soon, probably) I would be happy to send you the old one at no charge...After all, it's not brand new and has now been through at least TWO owners. I guess they felt I was attempting to sell items over the site, which I know is a no-no, so they pulled the e-mail address which I had typed just before "lol" (I'm speculating here, but that's my guess). I should have made myself more clear. I don't expect mind-reading from anyone, and I understand their caution, nobody needs any trouble. Anyway, the offer stands it you can't find it around your neck of the woods. Just let me know and we'll make arrangements in whatever way needs to be done.

If the poo fits, the dog should wear it! LOL!
Adagio - March 27, 2004 - Report this comment
She did today, Mari. She ran away down the street (guess she thought it was those open fields)...somebody called and had tried to wash her off, but she still stunk!! At least I got her back. Although maybe I should change her name from Pinky to Stinky. Thank you and Mer, thanks!! (ever smell cat poo? lol)

Jan Unwin - March 30, 2004 - Report this comment
Meriadoc, I used to have a dog who tried that; right out of the catbox with the litter sticking to it. We would say she was eating Almond Roca.
Adagio - March 30, 2004 - Report this comment
Yep...dogs do atrocious things.like the litter box deal. Jan, that comment was priceless!! :D

What a groovy midi. Another deeply enjoyable Adagio work. Reminded me of Phoebe from 'Friends' and her 'Smelly Cat' song.

My friend got a black labrador puppy when I was a kid. It had a habit of bumping into my leg which was cute... until it was full grown. Nicely done, Adagio.

Jeff Reuben - April 15, 2005 - Report this comment
Almost poetic. I agree with Stu's comment about variation on choruses (advice I should take on my own submission this month), but still enjoyed the song a lot.
