The Lyrics

'Tis pretty much a true story with most people who happen to own a (slightly older) Android device. Unless if you're on a heavily-supported flagship like let's say a Galaxy S7, most others are stuck on 5.x Lollipop, or worse, Kitkat or earlier. And while some have managed to port Marshmallow and up to legacy devices like the HTC Leo, they just won't be able to keep up, so to speak.

This serves as an unofficial sequel to Rex Ungericht's "Android Lollipop".
Stuck on Lollipop, the kernel source ain't showing up*
For my outdated handy
Not so fine and dandy

Whoa, oh, stuck on Lollipop
Hardware maker's lazy
Or partition's tiny
Just adds to the woes

In US some telcos are late or slow, and software update's no go**
And more so with knockoffs or little-known's, of which new firmware's no show

Stuck on Lollipop, no point to this, I'm giving up
Unlike the Kindle Fire
Or let alone Desire
Stuck on this Lollipop

*harmonica solo*

In US some telcos are late or slow, and software update's no go
And more so with knockoffs or little-known's, of which new firmware's no show

Stuck on Lollipop, no point to this, I'm giving up
Unlike the Kindle Fire
Or let alone Desire
Stuck on this Lollipop
Stuck on this Lollipop

Stuck on Lollipop
Stuck on Lollipop
Stuck on Lollipop
* Kernel sources are important for developers who wish to write custom ROMs for a particular device. It's still possible to make one even if there's none available, but you're limited to the provided Linux image unless you somehow got a kernel source from a similar handset or tablet.
** This is the bane with some devices, particularly country or carrier-specific variants of handsets as telcos like T-Mobile may choose to have it delayed for further approval or outright cancel it unlike with international variants.
