Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I originally submitted this over 2 years ago under the title "Hippie From Mississippi" under the psuedonym RED NECK MOTHER, before I started using my stage name of Dee Range. The original version can be found here: http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/merlehaggard1.shtml. This new version has been modified quite a bit. For anybody that read and commented on the original version, I would appreciate your opinion if this is better or worse.
I don't smoke marijuana 'less I got some
I've never rolled a joint in my sleep
I've never cussed a copper inside a courthouse
And I hardly ever make love to cows or sheep

I'm a red-neck hippie from Mississippi
Indoor plumbin' is a bottle or empty can
Where gonorrhea is a family tradition
And for most of us third grade was a five year plan

We can throw a party over damn near nothin'
Gettin' drunk when your kid's potty trained
But last night Junior had a relapse
And so 8 long years went down the frikkin' drain

I'm a red neck hippie from Mississippi
Where cows and sheep run scared all across my ranch
Kissin' our cousins is a life long tradition
And our fam'ly tree don't even have a single branch

CSI has trouble here in Mississippi
They find dead bodies but can't figure out the name
'Cos dental records here are non-existent
And everyone's DNA's exactly the same

I'm a red neck hippie from Mississippi
It's hot as hell but we don't give a damn
Since our definition of relative humidity
Is the sweat drippin' offa you onto yer sister Pam

That's Jackson, Mississippi, USA

Wow - did I miss the return of Dee Range? Or did you just slip back in here unannounced? All I know of the original is the title, unfortunately, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this more than I probably should have. Full of highlights, but I'll name a few: the first line, Junior's relapse, CSI's two challenges, and "relative humidity."

Thanks, Spaffman...This is my first post since I trekked back down from the mountains.Camping in a tent for two and a half months wore me out so bad I had to head to Las Vegas for a rest lol. Michael, you must be in high spirits with the Yanks recent plunder of Boston...thanks.

Thanks, Jack, it's good to sit here and be back in touch with friends again, after my self-inposed exile in the mountains this summer. I needed the break, but really miss this place, with all the laughter it brings to me daily.
