Europanto is a pidgin language, which originally began as a joke. It rapidly spred all around the EU headquarters, as the various EU officials and workers of various countries found it easy to communicate with each other with it. Soon it spred all around Europe by the Internet. It is surprisingly funny and usable pidgin - "es nix Englando, nix Germano, nix Espano, nix Franzo, nix keine known lingua, aber Tu understand!" - and easy to read and understand. Europanto is basically an isolating language, like English or Chinese, but the verbs flex in tenses and nouns have genders.

Pidgin languages are an interesting subject. The biologist Stephen Jay Gould dealt the best known pidgin, Papiamento, spoken at island of Curacao, on his book "Dinosaur in Haystack". It appears pidgins are nobody's first languages in the first generation, but they become true languages with vocabulary, grammar and linguistic rules already in the second generation - Papiamento, which is pidgin of Flemish, Portuguese and Yiddish - is a real language with real linguistic rules.. It is suggested Japanese, which has no linguistic relatives, has originally had its roots as a pidgin language.
