Here's a Microsoft Word trick ..... if anybody has Microsoft Word 97, try the following (the following trick doesn't work in later versions of Microsoft Word, and if you try this trick on Microsoft Word 97, you will see why!!! ): go to the "Thesaurus" in a Microsoft Word 97 document and tell it to look up the phrase " I'd like to see Bill Gates dead ". Guess what the thesaurus supplies as its answer? LOL !! No wonder Billy had that little "feature" removed!

Hey, that was great! all 5's from me. Very creative, good idea! I tried the phrase in the Thesaurus on the later version of Word, justr for the hell of it and I found bits of of the results funny! I don't know idiotic idiotically idiot-proof basically, the computer said "I don't know about that...you're an idiot" lmao...

It doesn't seem to work in Office 2000. Very creative parody, though. Do you know what 10-letter word can be typed using only the top row of letters of the typewriter?

Yes, Billy the old line that was used to send a test message was "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog's back." I must have typed that line thousands of times over the years, but I needed two more syllables to make it work so I added two words.

I am writing a Visual Basic app to test a wireless link and was trying to think of what message to send. I remembered "the quick brown fox" from typing class but wanted to make sure I got it right. This was the first link I clicked on from my google search. I didn't realize it had such a rich history in communication. Ed V.

I am surprised that no one realized that the 'quick brown fox' line uses every letter in the English alphabet. I can see your lips moving to each letter as you scan the phrase while humming that alphabet song in your head. LOL!

DJ - I wrote this so long ago I'd forgotten about it. This write is so far back that I did not vary the choruses - something that I now do on almost every parody I write except like Bo-Rhap which has no chorus. I wonder if that Rand macro works in Word 2007. I'll have to give it a try either at work or on my better half's computer where Word 2007 lives. Want a challenge? - Write a parody of American Pie and vary each chorus. I've done it several times. Heck just writing American Pie without yarying chorus is challenge enough.

Thanks for bringing me back to this. I started my career in IT when I was 17 years old. I went to school for two years to learn to program amd then I joined the military and worked IT through out my entire career and I typed the lazy fox line so many times back in the late 70s and mid 80s I could type it in my sleep. I am to this day still employed in the IT industry. And yes I do write a lot of geek parody..

Have you ever hit a broken link on the internet and received a 404 error? 404 errors when they occur on this site are redirected to a pool of 404 parodies that keep you on the site. Do a search on parody name and type in "404". You will get a list of all the 404 parodies that have been written on this site. Maybe you'd like to write one or two. If you do, once it gets submitted send an email to the webmaster, ChuckyG and ask him to add your parody to the pool. I have snagged 404 errors on this site and have been redirected to one of my own 404 parodies. It blows my mind every time this happens to me. Check the list of 404 parodies (Not all of them contain 404 in the title) and give it a shot.
