The Lyrics

This is the finishing touch to My Number 'One' Project," maybe. Click on the link in the bottom comments to view the songs referenced here in this parody.
[Spoken]
Let's start at the very beginning,
We started off with none.
What we read is like A-B-C.
What we write we call par-o-dy.

Par-o-dy, par-o-dy
So what we wrote just happened to be,
Par-o-dy, par-o-dy

None, Un, Sum, Soon, Some, When, Done,
[Spoken]
Seven songs, the project's easy.

[Everyone]
None, no peer, no detail here,
Un, A prefix used for none,
Sum, remains what's on the shelf,
Soon, it's not so long to done,
Some, don't need all that much bread,
When, what time? we want to know,
Done, the thing that do done did,
Which could bring you back to none. (no, no, no)

Soon, oh dear the time is near,
When, the time it must be done,
Done, the thing I did myself,
Un, an-y-thing less than one,
Sum, you need a count of head,
None, that's not turned into no,
Some, it's what you get in bed,
Which could bring us back too soon. (Whoa, whoa, whoa)

When's not clear, don't know how near,
Sum, what adding soon becomes,
Soon, ain't came just calm yourself,
Un, a long, long way from done,
Some is less than few, I've read,
Done, denotes it's time to whoa,
None, it's less than one I said,
Which could bring us back to when, (I don't know)

[Yours truely]
Done, When, Some, Soon, Sum, Un, None
None-done!

[Spoken]
Now reader's,
None-Un-Sum-Soon-Some-When-Done and so-on,
are only the titles we use to build the songs.
Once you have the titles in your head,
you can make the same song a million times by rhyming them up.
Like this:

Done When Some Soon Sum Un None
[Spoken]
Can you do that? (Good I knew you could)
[Readers]
Done When Some Soon Sum Un None
[Yours truely]
Done When Some Soon Sum Un None
[Readers]
Done When Some Soon Sum Un None
[Spoken]
Now link them all together.

[Everyone]
Done When Some Soon Sum Un None. Done When Some Soon Sum Un None
[Spoken]
Good!
[Johnny D]
But it doesn't mean anything.
[Yours truely]
[Spoken]
Well you gotta write the parody for each one. One parody for each title. Like this:

When you've got the tune and swing,
You can spoof most anything.

[Spoken]
Now all together

[Everyone]
When you've got the tune and swing,
You can spoof most anything.

None, no peer, no detail here,
Un, A prefix used for none,
Sum, remains what's on the shelf,
Soon, it's not so long to done,
Some, don't need all that much bread,
When, what time? we want to know,
Done, the thing that do done did,
Which could bring you back to none. (no, no, no)

Done When Some Soon Sum Un None Done
Done None Un Sum Soon Some When

[Everyone]
Done Some Some
Un Soon Soon
None Sum Sum
Some when when
[Repeat above verse 4x]

[Yours Truely]
When you've got the tune and swing,
You can spoof most anything.

[Everyone]
Soon, oh dear the time is near,
When, the time it must be done,
Done, the thing I did myself,
Un, an-y-thing less than one,
Sum, you need a count of head,
None, that's not turned into no,
Some, it's what you get in bed,
Which could bring us back too soon. (Whoa, whoa, whoa)

[Everyone]

None______Some None
Un________When Soon
Sum______ Sum None
Soon______Un
Some_____Some None
When_____When Soon
Done_____When Some Soon Sum Un

Done None - oh - oh Done None -- Some None

Tricked me there, Guy...thought your "Number One" project was all done. 5's here.

Okay, okay, I guess after I put the words "But it doesn't mean anything" in Rick D's mouth in my own parody of this SOM tune, I'm getting my just desserts here! Well dONE, Guy!
Dee Range - September 07, 2004 - Report this comment
Great job, Guy. Favorite line is "SOME..it's what you get in bed", although NONE would fit better here for myself :-)

Paul - I guess I still had 'One' more.

JD - When I was writing this I thought this is something that, you, JD would say.

Dee - Lonely one cries for some but get's none. (Moody Blues).

Pat - Thank you so much! I'm pretty sure this is it, of course the day is still young.

Very nicely done, Guy. 5-5-5. :)

A few syllables missing in the intro threw the pacing off...4-5-5 here, my apologies for marring the perfect score!

Ingeborg - Did you follow this up and read the other seven parodies that are associated with this one? Click the link in the bottom comments to see where this parody comes from. As for pacing on spoken parts you can mark lower if you like but I didn't feel the need to pace exactly any spoken parts to this song, but that is your choice. Pace only really makes sense for rhythm or where a spoken part is written poetically as is the case in my moody blues parody on "Nights In White Satin":
