Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Four strong fins, white and shiny,
Thirst for blood, black of eye
Predator of the deep, wild and free
Large sharp teeth chew till food's gone,
When they're spotted, best move on..
They may hunt you if you're ever lost at sea

In the waters off Alberta,
Where the whitecaps rise and fall
In the mornings they will shallow close to shore
Think of swimming, change your mind
Sharks can really be unkind
Their attacks just seem to happen more and more..

Four strong fins, white and shiny,
Thirst for blood, black of eye
Predator of the deep, wild and free
Large sharp teeth chew till food's gone,
If they're spotted, best move on..
They may hunt you if you're ever lost at sea

Monsters white, like the snowflakes,
Always mean, up to no good
Like the jungle lion waiting in his lair
In the summer or the winter,
They've a taste for meat like you
Likely snacks are those wind surfers, way out there..

Four strong fins, white and shiny,
Thirst for blood, black of eye
Predator of the deep, wild and free
Large sharp teeth chew till food's gone,
When they're spotted, best move on..
They may hunt you if you're ever lost at sea

They may hunt you if you're ever lost at sea

Good one, AFW! Now be on the lookout for Great White 5's! Security code: GW5 (as in Great White 5's)! LOL!!

For a responsible opposing viewpoint, please see this author's second riff on "Imagine", tomorrow (Wednesday). ... Great Whites are nasty, true, but they inhabit only cold waters. Fortunately this poikilothermic amphibious reptile naturally prefers warmer waters, where the sharks have appropriately warmer dispositions. I've actually slept with one! .... "Jaws" was a hysteria-inducing piece of trash, but this well-written parody shoulda' been its theme song. Bite these Fives.

Sir, this reads like a bad dream . . . we have shark sitings here regularly in NorCAL.
AFW - July 29, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks, Tommy, and NorCal...can I jest about your typo,..sitings..you don't sit with those lousy sharks do you..? shouldn't..not even card sharks
NorCALvotress' Grammar Coach - July 30, 2009 - Report this comment
Uh, sorry, Mr. AFW, but the plural gerund of "sit" would be "sittings" (two t's), so there's no implication that NCV sits with sharks. "Site" can be a verb, with the progressive form "siting":

site (sīt)
v. sit·ed, sit·ing, sites
To locate or situate at a site.

So while it's also doubtful that the LoCALs deliberately place the sharks there, it should be clear that grammar nit-picking is probably best left to the professionals ... and I do believe that AFW now becomes fair game again! :) :) :) :) :) :)

You're so cute, LCC :)..I'm no english teacher, But when I "Keyworded" "sitings" it was negative..."site" and "siting" came up, but no siting with an ending "s"...also, I keyworded, "Shark sitings"...and it corrected me to, "Did you mean shark sightings?"...Aren't I a stubbon A-hole?....and I know about two "T's" in sitting..I sat with many a lovely lady, like yourself, who had fine "TT's...anyhoo, if you want to put an s on siting and use it in that sense and sentence,, you surely can, Shugar.... :-) and you can kick my "S" anytime....If I'm wrong again, I'll stand corrected, or "sit" corrected....Signed: "The Unprofessional Fairgamed, AFW" :?) My security code for this comment is ATJ...meaning Afw, The Jerk...?..Your serve, please.

very finny !
Dictionary - July 31, 2009 - Report this comment
Try it without the "s": http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/siting

So "Siting" is the act of placing something somewhere. If we site your oak tree here and your elm tree there, have we not done two sitings?

The real issue is that this comment box should have a "preview" pane, as the parody box does, and as most forums and blogs do, where you can see how your comment would look before you actually post it. Without that, yeah, typos are rife, and really not worth the fuss, unlike a parody, where you get fair chance to view it as it will be. Having made plenty of comment typos myself, generally ignore them in comments; appreciate return of courtesy. And as for the ref to the "TTs", would you not have even more sympathy for one who had to type with flippers? :-)

Thanks, Mr. Dictionary...you have sited me straight...but, I'm still concerned, because if the meaning of siting is as you state: "The act of putting something somewhere", than siting sharks in California is very srious, and scary...someone, (maybe Steven Spielberg), is planting sharks there... :-)

Many thanks, ~ GrammaCoach ~ for correcting my 'sightings' . . . I must type fast here, while 'on the Job' . . .

Thanks NorCal...just too bad I'm not real far-sighted...I'll bet you're a "sighting" for sore eyes..
